Gillian's lips twitched in a bitter smile. She should have known.

If you didn't love me, you could have just divorced me. I've been punished enough. I don't regret giving you five years of my youth, but are you done playing your twisted games yet?"

Seeing the dead, unmoving resignation in her eyes, York's throat tightened. Without uttering a single word, he turned on his heel and walked out, his face like thunder.
