"Stomach cramps..."
Without a second word, Miles scooped Gillian into his arms and hurried away.
"York, if she's having stomach pains, it's probably just because she skipped a meal. We shouldn't intrude, right? They might be dating now, and we'd just be third-wheeling. Let's go eat?"
York watched Miles carry Gillian down the corridor, his eyes turning glacial before he finally looked away.
"Fine."
Hearing their exchange, Gillian felt a heavy sinking in her chest. If she died right now, York would probably still smile and eat lunch with Hailey.

After getting her medication, Miles ordered her a nutritious meal. Once she ate, her strength slowly returned.
"No matter how busy work gets, you need to take care of yourself. You're pregnant, which means you have to be extra careful. You're an obstetrician; you know the first trimester is critical. If you're not planning to terminate this pregnancy, you have to keep your nutrition up, or this baby will drain you dry."
Miles spoke with genuine concern, pausing slightly at the end. "Sorry. That might have overstepped."
Gillian lowered her eyes, a faint smile touching her lips. "Thank you for helping me."
Miles was busy, so after ensuring she was stable and giving a few more instructions, he hurried back to his duties.
Once Gillian felt recovered, she returned to the obstetrics office.
The moment she sat down, a stream of delivery workers started piling into the room, dropping off bags of gourmet food and high-end health supplements specifically meant for stomach recovery and general wellness.
A portion was placed on every single desk in the office.
The other doctors looked confused but thrilled.
Just then, Hailey skipped in, beaming. "My boyfriend sent these for everyone! Please, dig in! He said he wanted to thank you all for taking such good care of me."
"Your boyfriend is amazing!" a colleague gushed enviously. "You're so lucky to have a man who spoils you like this."
