Hailey looked at Gillian, her eyes instantly flashing with defensiveness. Even the way she addressed her had changed.

In that moment, Gillian hated her own subconscious habits. For a second, she was completely at a loss for how to react.

Just then, York chuckled and grabbed Hailey's hand. "We have a driver, so let her sit in the front. You sit in the back with me. If I were driving, the passenger seat would obviously be yours."

Gillian sat silently observing them. She never dared to act so freely with York, perhaps because she knew York would never grant her that kind of endless patience.

York had booked a private room. Almost everyone from the department showed up, including the nurses—basically anyone who wasn't on shift was there.

Everyone kept praising how good Hailey's boyfriend was to her.

"Dr. Sinclair, you and your boyfriend have such a great relationship, you should intertwine your arms for a couple's toast!" someone suggested, unaware of the actual dynamics.

Hailey froze for a second, her face instantly turning red. "I... I can't drink..."

"Then use water instead of wine! It's your first day, so consider it good luck! Or is Mr. Foster too strict at home to let you drink?"

Hailey held her glass of water, gazing up at York with wide eyes. "York..."

York chuckled and poured himself a glass of wine.

"She's pregnant, so I'll drink for her. Thank you all for taking good care of Hailey."

Egging them on, the crowd watched as the two linked arms and drank their toast. The young girl's face burned with embarrassment, looking absolutely radiant and alluring under the lights.

York never drank because he was an absolute lightweight. In the past, she always drank for him, pushing herself to the point of throwing up, and he never once stepped in to take a glass for her.

But now, he was willingly drinking for Hailey.
