Ex-Mate Wants Me Back (Seraphina and Mortimer) novel Chapter 314

Chapter 314

Third Person’s POV

No matter how hard she tried, Trista couldn’t explain away Wilmot’s prejudice against her.

She simply couldn’t change his opinion of her

Back then, Trista had no idea he had feelings for Natalie or that he disliked frer so much.

She gripped the mating contract termination papers tightly, the veins on the back of her hand bulging with the effort.

The already fragile mating bond between her and Wilmot stirred, sending a faint ache through her

But she still had to remain calm, so she tried to speak steadily, “Wilmot, whether I’m faking it or playing hard to get, just sign the papers. We’ll formally reject each other, and then you’ll know, won’t you?”

Trista was determined to prove that she was serious.

Wilmot looked at her for a while and said coolly, “Fine, I’ll agree to break the bond.”

He then added, “But Trista, has your grandfather Hugh agreed? Do you have our old mating-bond records? Has Harley agreed?

“Get everything sorted out on your end first, then come talk to me. Otherwise, don’t waste my time.”

With just a few words, Wilmot left Trista speechless.

Yes, ending her mating bond with Wilmot was not that simple.

The relationship between werewolf mates was never just about two people; there were too many ties between the two families.

Trista stared at him, her face drained of color. She couldn’t get a single word out.

Wilmot slowly rose, his imposing figure casting a shadow over her.

His expression, however, remained indifferent. “If you’re not going to do it, then just do your job as vice president.”

Trista wanted to explain, but the words caught in her throat.

In the end, she could only say, “I didn’t think it through. I’ll get in touch with them as soon as possible.”

Wilmot ignored her. He stepped out from behind the desk, opened the office door, and walked away with his hands in his

pockets, not once looking back.

Trista wanted to end their mating bond? Impossible.

He could still vividly remember the happiness on her face when they first formed the bond.

After the door closed, Trista rubbed her forehead and let out a long sigh.

When she returned to her office, she told Elizabeth Simmons what had happened. Elizabeth was Wilmot’s younger sister and also worked at the company.

She was the same age as Trista, and the two had been close since childhood.

She had been out of town on a business trip for the past few days.

Elizabeth and Wilmot also had an older brother, Lucas Simmons, who was serving in the military.

As Elizabeth listened to Trista over the phone, she suddenly shouted, “Trista, you finally came to your senses!

“Don’t worry, I’m definitely on your side. Now go home and get Hugir’s approval. That’s half the battle. As for the Bloodmoon Pack, we’ll figure something out.”

“Elizabeth, thank you,” Trista said.

“You don’t have to thank me,” Elizabeth replied.

If Wilmot weren’t such a jerk, Elizabeth wouldn’t be helping Trista end the mating bond in the first place.

With Elizabeth’s support, Trista felt much more confident.

When the workday ended that evening, she headed home. Hugh’s house was an old two-story building with a yard, tucked away on a quiet old street at the edge of the pack’s territory.

It had been renovated several times, preserving its old-world charm while incorporating plenty of modern touches.

The alley was quiet.

Red climbing roses spilled over the courtyard wall.

Trista parked her car along the curb and carried inside the snacks Hugh liked.

“Trista, you’re back,” Riley said.

“Hi, Omega Riley,” Trista responded.

After greeting the household staff, Trista went to find her grandfather.

Most twenty-three-year-old women dressed in bright, lively colors.

Trista, however, preferred simple, understated clothes. Her hair was tied back in a low bun, and her expression was subdued.

It wasn’t until after dinner, while playing cards with Hugh, that he finally spoke, “You’ve been frowning all evening. What’s bothering you so much?”

Trista looked up at him.

She studied him for a long moment before finally saying, “Grandpa, I don’t want to be with Wilmot anymore. I want to end our mating bond.”

This wasn’t a decision she’d made on a whim. She had thought about it carefully, over and over again, for a long time.
