Third Person’s POV

The Moses faction had already sparked worldwide outrage with its massacre of innocent civilians.

Now they had gone even further. They had bombed a protected civilian zone and launched indiscriminate attacks on international aid workers. The entire world erupted in anger.

Mortimer received the news while reviewing a confidential report on Abigail’s recent activities.

The more he read, the darker his expression became. The Alpha’s oppressive aura and growing agitation slowly filled the room.

He had handed control of the Craig Group’s logistics network to Abigail for two reasons. One was that Edwin wanted to make up for the hardships she had endured over the years. The other was that he intended to use the logistics network as bait to uncover whatever Abigail and Caldwell were planning.

Just as he had expected. Once Tobias’s disappearance was confirmed, problems soon emerged along the Craig Group’s North American shipping routes.

“I knew it…”

Mortimer tightened his grip on the report, his brows drawing together.

Just then, Beta Tade burst into the CEO’s office, his face deathly pale with panic.

“Alpha, something happened to Seraphina.”

The words hit like a bolt of lightning. Mortimer shot to his feet. The black wolf that had been lying dormant inside him let out a terrified roar.

All the color drained from his face.

Before he could ask another question, Tade handed him a tablet displaying the breaking news.

“Breaking news. Early this morning, the Moses faction launched a surprise bombing on a civilian protection zone established by international humanitarian organizations in Ukraine. Dozens of international medical aid workers, including members of Doctors Without Borders, as well as local civilians receiving treatment in the zone, were killed.

“In response to this horrific attack by the Moses faction…”

Mortimer couldn’t read another word. The blood completely drained from his face.

After what felt like forever, he forced himself to shake his head and suppress the savage instincts threatening to tear him apart. He had to stay calm.

“Tade,” he said, his voice trembling. “Give these files to George and have him submit them to the authorities. Put Abigail under constant surveillance. Don’t let her contact anyone.”

His voice trembled, and every word came only after tremendous effort to suppress his emotions.

When he finished, he staggered toward the door. His overwhelming grief left him barely able to stay on

his feet.

“Make the arrangements. I’m going to Ukraine.”

His voice shook uncontrollably. A low, broken growl escaped from his throat, like the final cry of a dying

beast.

Mortimer’s words caught Beta Tade completely off guard. He quickly moved to stop him.

“Alpha, all access to Ukraine has been sealed off. You can’t get through. It’s too dangerous. And Seraphina…”

“Enough!”

Mortimer clenched his jaw and forced the word through gritted teeth. His wolf eyes burned with fury and despair.

He already knew what Tade was going to say.

The bombing had already happened. The protected zone had been the target.

Almost no one could have survived.

But he refused to hear it. There was only one thought left in his mind: He had to go to Ukraine to bring Seraphina home.

He had already lost her once in a foreign country. He would not lose her again.

“Alpha, please calm down. If you go now, you’re walking into a death trap.”

Tade stepped forward again to stop him, but the crimson glow in Mortimer’s wolf eyes made him instinctively recoil. The destructive power of an Alpha on the verge of losing control radiated from him.

“If you won’t make the arrangements,” Mortimer said coldly, “I’ll go myself.”

“Alpha…”

In the end, Tade gritted his teeth. “I’ll make the arrangements right away.”

Although Ukraine’s borders had been sealed, the Blade pack had enough influence and connections to get into Ukraine if they were determined.

After the bombing, governments around the world dispatched aircraft to recover the victims’ remains.

The Craig Group’s private jet arrived in Ukraine the following day alongside the international rescue flights.

By then, the civilian protection zone had been reduced to rubble. Ruins stretched in every direction. Bodies lay everywhere. The air reeked of smoke and blood.

The moment Mortimer stepped off the plane, he ran. Like a man possessed, he followed the faint but familiar scent drifting through the air toward the destroyed protection zone.

“Sera, Sera…”

He stood among the bodies like a lost cub, helpless and completely at a loss.

Then he began frantically searching through the ruins, using his werewolf senses to catch even the faintest trace of Seraphina’s scent.

Wilmot had come with him.
