Those were my dad’s words, and their effect on Davien brought a smile to my face. I could feel the heavy burden on my mate’s heart fading away as he listened to my parents and felt what parental love should feel like.

Although my parents and I had spoken about the battle of Alphas through the mind link while Jarrett awaited a response, I didn’t have to convince them or plead with them to take Davien’s side.

They did that willingly, even though they could be accused of being biased by Alpha Jarrett.

While my eyes found Davien’s twinkling ones, Alpha Jarrett quickly blurted, “You can’t take sides even before the duel, My King, and neither can you, Queen Aurelia. There are rules.”

He sounded like a broken record if I was being honest, and my mom did hesitate to say to him, “The rules cease to exist the second you decided to go behind our backs and lobby for support to take the throne instead of coming forward legally. Oh, you forgot about the rules while you were sneaking around?”

The shock on Alpha Jarrett’s face was profound, and one look at his mate was all I needed to see that she was equally shocked. If Davien was close to tearing up before now, he swallowed his tears, staring at my mom like her words were news to him.

Or maybe he was wondering why she would let it slip that we knew about Jarrett’s plans, just like I was.

I thought we had a plan.

“L-luna Q-queen-” Jarrett stuttered with wide, fearful eyes, taking steps backwards as the same shock printed boldly on his face sank into him like a burden.

“There’s no need to deny the truth, Jarrett.” My dad cut Alpha Jarrett off, his face stern as he continued. “With the help of my son, whom you deemed unworthy to be the next ruler, all your so-called allies have reported to me. Well, all except Cole’s family, and I heard he is here, cooking up silly tricks with you.”

At this point, it was safe to say I was shocked myself.

I thought my parent would at least rest before they ruffle Jarrett’s feathers. But apparently, they were ready to call him out for his dubious intentions.

I didn’t have to be told to know that Luna Cynthia was about to stab her so-called mate in the back, and I was down for that. Hell, it’s about time she realizes that choosing Jarrett was a mistake. However, it was also clear to me that Elora shouldn’t be here for this part.

Before anyone could point out to Elora that she was truly a child, she added with a small roll of her eyes when she realized she wasn’t about to change our mom’s mind, “She’s about to tell you that her mate has been in contact with the banished witches just like the villain in your story did.”

“What a child.” Even Zoe couldn’t resist as Elora stunned her, not just with the tone she used to pass the information but also with her attitude.

She was one sassy power plant.

Although I found Elora’s declaration amusing, my parents didn’t, and neither did Alpha Jarrett, whose secret was out in the open. With obvious disbelief, he barked, “That’s a lie. The child is making things up.”

“That child is a princess of this realm, and she is a pure White wolf!” Davien gritted, defending Elora like his life depended on it.

How my sister melted and moved towards him, muttering without paying attention to the fact that she just dug Alpha Jarrett’s grave, “You’re my hero.”

I would have rolled my eyes and uttered something like, “Dramatic much,” but the real drama was yet to begin.
