Chasing His Betrayed Luna novel Chapter 113

DAVIEN

~<>~

Not to be impatient, but when can the Battle of Alphas happen, Your Majesties?

Of course, he had to ask now. I could smell his impatience on him even though I had been keeping my distance. I could feel his hot glare each time he thought I was looking at him. I guess we were both impatient… I mean, I had been glaring at him too.

Jarrett was impatiently waiting to duel with me so he could kill me. At least, that was his belief, but I wouldn’t let that happen because I had been waiting impatiently to kill him. After last night, I didn’t have any reason to hold back.

Plus, he was never a great father to me anyway; therefore, we didn’t have the connection that would have made me think twice when I got to the point where I snapped his neck, breaking it like a twig.

I expected Katie’s parents to respond instantly, but for some reason, they took their sweet time, eyes shifting between themselves and Katie. It was obvious that they were discussing it through the mind link, and I could only hope Katie wasn’t asking her parents to choose a day that wasn’t tomorrow.

I wanted to get over this… be done with this phase of life and become the best version of myself… become the Alpha of this pack and prove to my so-called mother that she chose the wrong man.

“We just got here, Alpha Jarrett,” Luna Queen Aurelia stated calmly after what seemed like an eternity of silence for Alpha Jarrett and myself. “You could have waited till dinnertime to ask us this question.”

“Apologies, My Queen,” Jarrett bowed his head. “I know you and the King are very busy people, which is why I wouldn’t want to keep you here in Black Fur longer than necessary.”

Although that was his excuse, I knew the only reason he wanted them gone was so he could have the meeting with his allies. He didn’t even stop to consider the fact that he wouldn’t be alive to hold that meeting.

“He must really think I am an ant that he can crush within minutes of the duel,” I growled internally, bursting out to my wolf, but Dolf didn’t say a word to that.

My aching heart kind of melted in that moment because I could see that the King and Queen were standing up for me… but at the same time, I didn’t want it. I wasn’t sure I wanted them to stop the duel.

Once again, my heart melted, and I felt the tension in my shoulders easing, just like Katie had been wanting since last night.

Jarrett still couldn’t speak, though.

Not even when King Raiden backed his mate up, “Yes, Jarrett. You are about to duel with my family, and whether you win or not, you have so much to lose, including my trust in you. After all, there’s no way you will kill my son and expect to be in my good books. Heck, I might turn around and kill you on the spot.”

“No, you can’t do that, My King,” Jarrett eventually blurted, struggling to hide the fear in his eyes while I struggled to keep tears from pouring out of me. “There are rules guiding the duel, and I am not committing a crime here.”

Alpha King Raiden chuckled with no hint of amusement in his eyes as he said, “Oh, but you are, and we all know that. However, you can have that duel because I trust my son to make me proud.”

Now, how do I stop the tears from flowing as rapidly as they wanted?
