Chasing His Betrayed Luna novel Chapter 112

Princess Katie Anne

~<>~

“Katie!”

Elora’s excited, high-pitched scream brought a smile to my face despite the kind of night I had with my moody mate. My parents’ car was still on the move when I heard Elora’s voice, and as soon as the car was parked, my baby sister jumped out, running towards me with her open arms.

“Oh, my Lora,” I muttered after I picked her up, holding her tightly to myself. “Gosh, I have missed you.”

“Don’t get me started, Katie,” Elora breathed with obvious relief, her small arms snaking around my neck. “I had to make mom and dad bring me with them even though they refused the first thirty times I made a kind request.”

Knowing how insistent she can be, I laughed as I tried to imagine her pestering our parents. My laughter soon faded as my parents walked up to me, showing off the affection I had missed seeing in their eyes.

“Hey, my Princess,” my dad muttered, his emotions almost choking him as he wrapped his arms around Elora and me. The hug was meant for me, but since Elora was latched to my body like a little pest, she was included as well. My heart swelled with emotions I had shoved down when I decided to stay here in Black Fur and become its Luna.

“I almost forgot your scent, Katie,” my dad smiled down at me, making me smack his arm lightly.

“How dare you forget me?” I scolded, my eyes mirroring the twinkle in his.

My dad jokingly apologized and hugged me once again, as if he couldn’t get enough of this moment. It wasn’t until my mom complained about having to wait to hug me that my dad pulled away, stepping aside for the woman who was my older, smarter, prettier, and more badass version.

But still, Elora wouldn’t let me drop her.

“Katie Anne,” my mom breathed, a wide smile on her face as she wrapped her arms around me.

My mom’s hug was tender and refreshing. I had to resist the urge to burst into tears in her arms. My emotions surged intensely within me, yet something about the way she held me made me relax.

I couldn’t even utter a word to my mom. I didn’t have to, at least not in that moment. I could hear Davien, who had been standing beside me in front of the mansion that Alpha Jarrett had prepared ahead of my parents’ arrival, having a moment with my dad while I remained in my mom’s arms like a little child.

Before I could respond to what Zuri said, Elora, who was still hanging on my body, whispered to me, “Your wolves are very loud, Katie.”

“Please let me show you around, King Raiden,” Alpha Jarrett uttered to my parents, ignoring his Luna, who arrived a few minutes ago to welcome my parents.

The lack of unity between the duo was obvious, but my parents didn’t point it out. Instead, they followed Alpha Jarrett into the mansion, and I walked behind them, holding Elora while Davien walked beside me.

“Can you tell him to ease up a little? He’s too stiff,” I sent those words to Dolf’s mind, asking him to deliver the message to Davien.

Instantly, my mate’s gaze shifted to me, but he looked away before we could enter the mansion. I wanted to lash out at him because he had been ignoring me since the argument he had with Cynthia last night.

But Dolf’s voice resonated in my head before I could: “He said to tell you that he can’t help it because he has to be around Jarrett.”

Yeah, his father’s murderer. I got it, but I didn’t know how much longer I could pretend like his mood wasn’t affecting me and our bond. I was worried, yet Alpha Jarrett gave me more to worry about when he asked my parents the question that had been on all our minds since Davien challenged him.

“Not to be impatient, but when can the battle of Alphas happen, Your Majesties?”
