DAVIEN
~<>~
Tamia Lu’s death broke the hearts of many.
People traveled from far and near to attend her burial ceremony, which was held a week after her demise. I didn’t know how to console my mate since she wouldn’t talk to me about the pain in her heart.
But fortunately, I could feel her pain, and I was able to offer some sort of comfort. I held her through it all.
After the burial ceremony, the entire family gathered to discuss the future of the realm, but most importantly, the future that we were all beginning to anticipate, even though it is still more than a decade away.
I have met and sat with everyone my mate considers family—the extended family—a couple of times, but never had I felt such tension while in their midst.
“As much as I would love to sit here all day and be silent with you all, we have to do the hard work, guys.” That was Otis, or as Katie would call him, Uncle Otis.
He was sitting beside his mate and Lilian, their adopted daughter, who was almost the same age as Elora.
“I agree with Otis, Luna Queen Aurelia. We have to get this meeting started and make a decision that will benefit us all.” Elder Jeremy voiced his words, and they kind of snapped everyone out of their thoughts.
It’s been three days after the burial ceremony and a week since Tamia Lu kicked the bucket, yet no one has gotten over her demise. Who was I kidding? It would take forever for the entire realm to get over that legendary woman who used her life force to protect the white wolves and hide them from the rest of the realm for many years.
She will forever be in our memories and hearts.
“What we have to do is obvious.” Luna Queen Aurelia finally joined the conversation, her eyes shifting around the living room where we had all been sitting. “I just don’t know how to get these things done or if I want to do them at all.”
However, there was a lot to be done and put in place for that to happen. Such as an active purifying lake, a group of talented white wolves to help train both Katie and Elora, and also skilled healers who can provide care to them.
Unexpectedly, Louis blurted, speaking up for him and his mate after they had apparently had a private discussion via their mindlink, “My family is ready to move to Black Fur if the King and Queen would allow us. I would like to serve the realm by working with Alpha Davien in Black Fur.”
Obviously, that wasn’t the only reason he wanted to return to Black Fur. I mean, he must miss home.
“Having Phoebe there would benefit Katie and Elora. Hell, it will ease all our minds.” Elder Jeremy chimed in, as if to persuade the King and Queen to allow Louis to return to Black Fur.
But they didn’t need to be convinced. In fact, they were grateful that Phoebe and Louis would volunteer to move their family to Black Fur. Other white wolves were nominated to return to Black Fur with Katie and me, and by the time we had to leave Dark Moon Pack, we had more than a few trusted people with us.
And Katie and I were ready to perform all the necessary rituals… to begin life afresh.
