Chasing His Betrayed Luna novel Chapter 107

DAVIEN

“I would rather die than surrender to my mother’s bastard child!”

I heard him say those words, but at first, l assumed he was just playing around with words because he was in pain and losing to me. Damien had always been a sore loser.

That was my belief, so I chuckled despite the rapid rise and fall of my chest. “Bastard child? I am your twin brother, Damien, and yes, you lost the battle of Alphas: I am giving you the chance to surrender instead of getting killed.”

“I would rather die than surrender to you, bastard!” * Davien repeated the same words, hissing as pain consumed him.

The murmurs in the crowd hit my eardrums, eyes widening as it dawned on me that my brother wasn’t joking. Damien took pleasure in the few seconds of confusion, laughing at my dazed face. My hold on him loosened as he began to hiss at me.

“Yeah, that’s right,” Damien began. “You think you are better than me because you have a great mate, but you are lesser, Davien. You are the bastard son of the man who raised you. You have no claim to the throne even if you kill me; after all, I’m the only legitimate son.”

“We are twins, Damien,” I stammered, holding on to my belief, as I couldn’t afford to experience another sudden shift.

“Oh, because we stayed in the womb simultaneously doesn’t change the fact that you were born of another man’s sperm, Davien. I might be in pain, but I have been waiting for the day I tell you the truth. Even though Dad thought killing you would make me a better Alpha that can control his people, I call that bullshit because I am his only son-the rightful heir to the Alpha position of Black Fur Pack.”

Damien didn’t stop there, even though I was visibly shaking.

“Before we were born, our dearest mom was destined to be with two different men. Destiny, fate, and mate bonds can be a bitch that bites you in the ass, right? That was exactly what happened to our mom when she discovered that she had two strong bonds with two different men.”

Hissing loudly, Damien continued, his eyes glinting with excitement despite the pain coursing through him. “Of course, she had to explore both bonds, and during that exploration, you and I were conceived, and each father could perceive his child. Each father now had a claim on our mom and the babies in her womb.”

Was that even possible? I looked toward the stands where the two people I considered parents were sitting. One look at them was all I needed to know that Damien was telling the truth.

“Don’t you get it!” the man who had always treated me like I was dirt snapped, his gaze seething with anger. “The damn duel is off. You are not my son.”

You are a bastard, and the only way you can claim the Alpha title is by challenging me, dueling me, and winning.

I have tolerated you for many years and thought giving you an honorable death during this duel would be good for all of us, but I won’t hesitate to tear you apart like I did to your weak-ass father.”

Yeah, this is how I get treated after spending the past few days planning and worrying about how to save Damien’s life. Gosh, I had to pressure the only person who had shown me true love for this family!

I thought I was ready. I thought I knew everything, but clearly, I was wrong, and whatever this toxic relationship was, I was done with it.

Therefore, I uttered before Alpha Jarrett could walk away and right before every member of Black Fur Pack, “Then so be it. I, Davien, challenge Alpha Jarrett, the current Alpha of Black Fur Pack, to the Battle of Alphas.”

While I wasn’t sure if I was doing this to avenge the father I never met or knew about until a few minutes ago, I was certain I wanted the father I grew up knowing dead by my hands.
