Chloe said flatly, “Your previous owner’s garden might have been beautiful, but that has nothing to do with me. You can say whatever you want, but why step onto my turf? Are you trying to act tough?”
“You threaten me?” the Music Box shot back stubbornly. “I’m the Witch’s favorite magical item, bursting with vitality. I don’t believe you’d actually throw me away.”
The notification said: [Loyalty -20. Current Loyalty: -50. Do not let the Music Box’s loyalty drop below -100.]
Chloe acted like she hadn’t even seen the System Notification.
Chloe let out a cold snort.
She said, “An item full of life. Big deal. You think that makes you something special?”
Chloe carried the Music Box and slowly walked over to the Arcane Workbench.
The Arcane Workbench was slumped in its usual spot, enjoying its lazy, carefree existence, just zoning out and doing absolutely nothing.
When it saw Chloe coming, it thought she was about to make it work again, so it jumped up in a panic, its mood plummeting.
Chloe shot the Arcane Workbench an amused look. “I’m not making you work.”
She added, “I just wanted you to meet your new coworker.”
When the Music Box saw the Arcane Workbench, a tiny hand popped out from the side of the box and dramatically covered its face-at least, that was what it looked like.
Chloe had no idea where its face or eyes were, but the gesture was unmistakably human.
“You evil Witch. How could you make a magical item with vitality do something like this? This is an inhumane exploitation of a magical item with vitality. Evil. So evil,” the Music Box cried out in horror.
The notification said: [Loyalty -20. Current Loyalty: -70. Please be careful.]
Chloe just shrugged, “Yep.”
Chloe carried the Music Box over to her planting area. The fog was so thick that even the Mutation Fleece- Grass looked extra fluffy and weak, like it could be pushed around.
It was busy spitting fireballs, clearly fed up with all the mist.
As soon as Chloe showed up, the Mutation Fleece-Grass shook its leaves like a cat greeting its owner and then put on a little performance-shaking its leaves and tossing out even more fireballs.
It pointed its leaves at the soil and put its “hands” on its hips. Chloe humored it by putting on her Flora Whisperer’s Cap, and sure enough, she saw the soil’s Corruption value had dropped again.

Suddenly, the Corruption value hit 30%.

Chloe praised, “Nice job, you’re one impressive Fleece-Grass. Keep it up. I’ve already planted the other Fleece-Grass.
“Once you get the Corruption down to 10%, I’ll try bringing some of your family over.”
As she said this, Chloe felt a bit guilty. She still wasn’t sure if soaking the Fleece-Grass in cleansing water would mess them up somehow.
Hearing that, the Mutation Fleece-Grass got even more energetic.
On its head were three fiery red, fluffy flowers, kind of like dandelions, shining like little orbs.
Honestly, seeing such a vibrant plant, Chloe couldn’t help but feel her spirits lift.
Chloe glanced at the troublesome Music Box. “I’m just upgrading you so you can sing to the plants and help them grow a bit faster.
“If you really can’t stand my turf, you can leave whenever you find somewhere better. Or I could trade you off… Or I could just chuck you into the abyss.
“Don’t make it sound like I’m forcing you. If you’re cool with it, then do it. If not, just go.”
Chloe smiled, her hair falling to the side. “Honestly, I’d rather toss you down there like trash. What do you think?”
The Music Box in Chloe’s hand flushed a dark reddish-purple, cycling through several colors as it reacted to
her words.
Chloe finally figured out how to tell if the Music Box was feeling upbeat or down in the dumps.
When it was in a good mood, the whole box would glow with bright, vivid colors. But when it was feeling down, its colors would fade, the purple shell turning into a dull, deep blackish-blue.
And whenever it was about to get all gloomy, a System Notification would pop up. [Your Music Box is acting up. Keep an eye on it.]
This was the first time Chloe had ever seen something created by her own abilities that she couldn’t actually
control.
She felt a little bummed that such a rare treasure couldn’t be hers to use, but when it was time to do what needed to be done, she didn’t hesitate.
It might’ve been a great item, but with all those downsides, she had to get rid of it.
Chloe was about to head over to the edge of her territory and toss the Music Box off when she heard it choke out a desperate attempt to save face.
“Fine. I guess I’ll just stick around, even if it’s not my first choice,” the Music Box huffed. “There’s no way I’m letting my precious life go to waste in a dump like this.

“Alright, I’ll pay my rent by singing and taking care of your plants. Witch-ugh, you terrifying Witch- promise me, if I ever find a place that’s more my style, you’ll let me go.”
Chloe raised an eyebrow.
She glanced at the Music Box. It was glowing with a bright, vivid purple.
It really did look pretty upbeat.
“Alright,” Chloe said.
The Music Box let out a dramatic huff and hopped out of Chloe’s hand, skipping the stone path and landing smack in the dirty soil. It instantly screeched in an over-the-top way.
“Oh my goddess, seriously-how gross is this dirt?” it whined.
Chloe watched as it stomped over to the Mutation Fleece-Grass, grumbling and ranting nonstop about how awful her territory was. But even with all that complaining, it still loved life and got right to work, singing for the Fleece-Grass like a true pro.
The melody was totally bizarre.
With her Flora Whisperer’s Cap on, Chloe could easily spot the happy vibes coming from the two epic magical plants.
That’s all she needed.
After being put in its place, it was much more obedient.
Chloe didn’t need every magical creature to accept her.
As long as whatever she got could do what she needed and provide the value she wanted, she could overlook a few quirks.
Chloe rubbed the back of her neck, and it suddenly hit her.
She really hated it when anything disrespected her turf.
This was a place she’d put her heart and soul into-no way she’d let anyone disrespect or walk all over it.
When one got busy, he tended to forget how he was feeling in the first place.
Suddenly, something clicked in Chloe’s mind, and she hurried to check her storage for the Arcane Materials she’d used for the blessing.
She saw that her storage was missing 3 Snow Spirit Crystals, 1 Rare Energy Stone, 1 portion of Epic Vitality Fuel, 2 portions of Rare Vitality Fuel, and the only Special Vitality Essence she had left.
There were also a few other Arcane Materials: 2 portions of WindingVines and 5 portions of Gold Crystal
Iron.
