Chloe said, “Do you have any idea how precious those materials were? I used up several Epic items.”

She said with a chilling tone, “You’re not going anywhere until you make up for what you cost me. Got it?”

The Music Box replied, “Back then, if someone wanted to hear me sing, my master had to pay Legendary materials just for a minute-”

Chloe cut it off with a smile, “That was then, this is now.

“Can you get your master to come back and pay your ransom? Can you hand me a legendary-grade material right now? Can you conjure up Health materials? Well? Can you?”

The Music Box was silent.

Chloe pressed, “You can’t, can you?”

The Music Box let out a pitiful whine.

Chloe patted it. “Sing well and earn your ransom.”

Just as Chloe was about to leave, the Music Box said softly, “You really used all that junk… uh, I mean, Epic stuff to wake me up?”

Chloe glanced back. “What’s wrong?”

The Music Box stammered, “N-nothing…”

The notification showed: [Loyalty increased by 70. Current: 0]

Chloe shot the Music Box a weird look, thinking, ‘Maybe this thing’s got some kind of kink or something.

‘Did I just get 70 loyalty points at once? I have no idea why. But hey, not my problem.’

Chloe got to work.

The fog was so thick today that visibility was worse than ever. When Chloe looked down, she could barely make out her own hands, just a blurry outline.

She gripped her starter hoe, planning to break ground today.

After using the compost bin for so long, she’d finally collected enough fermented fertilizer.

Now she could finally give some of the soil a boost.

Once the plants were in the ground, it’d be a pain to keep the soil healthy. If she messed up, she could end up burning the seedlings.

Plus, using compost to boost the soil always came with a bit of a stench.

Chloe stashed her protective gloves and gear, gathered the compost, grabbed her hoe, and let the line down on her magic fishing rod. She used Terra Break to pile up a little mound to prop the rod up.

She hung a few iron chunks on the line so she’d know if there was a bite.

It was basically a semi-automatic fishing rig.

Chloe dumped the compost from the bin into an empty wooden barrel she’d been using as a trash can. The smell was pretty intense.

Chloe was a pro at farm chores, so she didn’t even flinch.

She turned over a whole trench in the pitch-black soil and poured the fermented fertilizer straight in.

With her 35-by-35 plot, the area felt way more spacious. Chloe sectioned off a spot just for crops.

She mapped this area out as her future veggie garden.

Farm work was a real time-suck.

With her Strength at 2, it felt like the game was punishing her for having such low stats. After a few swings of the hoe, Chloe could already feel her muscles aching.

Once she finished tilling the soil and covering it up, she noticed the wooden barrel from the compost bin was pretty filthy. Chloe carefully used Aqua Sphere to clean it out.

‘I really need to build a Drainage Trench. But that’ll have to wait for now, Chloe thought.

Chloe watched as the water from her Aqua Sphere mixed with the fertilizer and seeped into the earth. She paused, thinking.

The water produced by her Aqua Sphere always came with two labels: “Corrupted” and “Dirty.” It was hardly usable, and pouring it onto the soil could even raise the Corruption level.

But when it came to magical water sources, the Arcane Dew Collector’s water was much cleaner.

The fog was thick and sticky, and the air was unpleasant. Chloe washed her hands with the dew she’d collected, but quickly realized that her fishing efficiency in this weather was really low.

Almost the whole morning had passed, and the fishing rod hadn’t budged at all.

The rod’s catch rate had plummeted, and Chloe noticed her resource income had taken a serious hit.

Chloe mentally went through all her skills and the ways she could make some profit.

She still had 6 Snow Spirit Crystals left, enough to make 3 more Magic Rune Refrigerators. But with the Crafting Table out of commission for now, she’d have to wait.

Enchanting? Once AAA Weapon Depot finished their first batch, she could start working on that.

She could keep learning and creating from both the Enchanting Knowledge and the Arcane Botany

The plants were growing like crazy, but it was nowhere near harvest time yet.

Plus, their real potential hadn’t kicked in. For most players, even if they managed to get some fruits or veggies, they were just something to fill their stomachs-unless they could sell them to a foodie player with a cooking skill.

Or, she could use her newbie days to spend the whole day learning Arcane Hydro-Electric Conversion Engineering, or just pop a special resource card to score some extra loot.

Chloe took stock of her territory.

The Glasshouse was still under construction.

The High Heat Workshop was busy smelting iron ore.

She’d finished the first round of planting, and the road layout was barely passable. The smoker was on pause for now, but Chloe already had 88 portions of bacon stashed in her warehouse.

She couldn’t put the bacon in the fridge. It smelled way too bad, and the Magic Rune Refrigerator’s storage was limited anyway.

She had some high-value blueprints in her hands, too. Chloe even had a Gilded-grade farm blueprint.

She also had a matching grape winery blueprint, a special Slime Spring blueprint, and a unique Slime sculpture.

The Slime sculpture had a chance to randomly spawn Slimes, but only if the environment was elegant enough. Before she expanded her territory, the 20-by-20 plot was way too cramped.

Chloe couldn’t place it before, but now that her territory was bigger, she could finally set it up. ‘Maybe I’ll get lucky and a little Slime will pop up,’ she thought.

Now Chloe really understood how crucial Slime Ooze was.

But since the foggy weather would increase durability loss, Chloe planned to wait until the newbie phase ended before putting the sculpture down.

The Arcane Hydro-Electric Conversion Engineering was awesome, but it wasn’t practical for the early stages.

Resource cards were best used on foggy days, when everything was at its worst-but there was always a risk she might miss out on valuable intel or resources.

Chloe had seen some players in the community chat speculating.

During the newbie phase, resource gathering efficiency got a boost.

Rather than being a real test or hardship, the special weather in the newbie phase was more like the system previewing the challenge-giving players a chance to get used to extreme conditions and figure out how to

handle them.
