Aethelgard: The Survival Game (Chloe) novel Chapter 100

Chapter 100 Preliminary Enchantment

Needless to say, Cubic Yard Soil is now more important than anything else.

‘Should I sell this information?’ Chloe thought.

She hesitated for a moment.

Chloe knew she wasn’t great at trading. Sure, she could sell this info for a huge amount of supplies, but that would definitely make it harder for her to buy more Cubic Yard Soil later.

Especially since there were plenty of expert traders in the global chat who were way better at this than she

was.

Chloe glanced around her territory. The Glass Greenhouse was almost done-just half an hour left. Time had slipped by, and it was already afternoon.

Chloe paused for a moment, then took out her compound bow.

‘Guess I’ll try enchanting this first, Chloe thought to herself.

For the last four days of the newbie period, Chloe planned to trade all the weapons she collected for Cubic Yard Soil and Epic or better Arcane Materials.

Chloe kept her fishing rod in the water, using Terra Break to hold it steady. Meanwhile, she stood at the Crafting Table inside the Snow Canopy and took out the materials she needed for enchanting.

Chloe took out some Slime Ooze.

She also grabbed a Snow Spirit Crystal.

For Epic materials, Chloe was down to six Snow Spirit Crystals and just one Earth Essence.

Crafting a Magic Rune Refrigerator needed at least two Snow Spirit Crystals. If possible, Chloe would rather not use them for forging.

But Snow Spirit Crystals had the same structure as the Ignis Crystals Alden showed off, so enchanting was easier-just the elements were different.

Earth Essence was a totally different kind of material for Chloe-something she wasn’t used to at all.

To maximize her chances of success, Chloe had to bite the bullet and use a Snow Spirit Crystal.

She never seemed to have enough Arcane Materials, especially the Epic stuff.

Chloe took out some Slime Ooze. She had a massive stash-at least eighty or ninety batches. She should’ve had even more, but for some weird reason, a bunch always went missing whenever she was crafting or blessing items.

Not to mention, Slime Ooze was a key supporting material for enchanting and Magic Runes.

Slimes were absolutely adored by Mages and Witches.

Chloe was seriously considering building a Slime factory just to harvest massive amounts of Slime Ooze.

Chloe focused intently, downing a bottle of dew to keep her Energy at max.

Then, copying Alden’s technique, she channeled her Magic, breaking down the Slime Ooze and merging it into her compound bow.

Watching Alden breeze through it in class, Chloe figured it would be a piece of cake.

But once she actually got hands-on, she realized that not every component and element would just follow her will like she hoped.

First, she had to flood the item with Magic, breaking it down into its smallest energy particles.

This step demanded razor-sharp control over her Magic, plus the ability to sketch out tiny magic arrays in a specific order and structure.

Using her own Magic as a channel, she had to keep those energy particles in the most workable form.

One wrong move, and it could blow up in her face.

Chloe had finished breaking down the Rare Slime Ooze, barely holding the energy particles together right in front of her.

Then, out of nowhere, a loud sound was heard.

The energy particles weren’t lined up right and started pushing each other away. Before Chloe could even get the Slime traits into her bow, the whole thing went haywire and blew up in her face.

If Chloe hadn’t blown up stuff in her chemistry days, she wouldn’t have had that gut instinct to dodge. The instant she got that creepy feeling something was wrong, she moved in a flash.

Chloe raised an earth wall between herself and the Slime Ooze with Terra Break, then sketched out a huge water shield using Aqua Sphere to block the shockwave.

Luckily, she was fast enough.

After the dust settled and the deafening boom faded, Chloe let out a deep breath and poked her head out from behind the earth wall.

There was a massive crater in the ground.

It was nearly half a meter deep, like someone had set off a small explosive.

The Snow Canopy was blown apart. Only one of its four legs survived, and there was no way to fix it. The roof had been launched straight into the nearby abyss.

Chloe stared at the massive crater in front of her, swallowing hard.

“The power is insane,’ she thought.

Rare Slime Ooze-supposedly the gentlest and most mage-friendly magic material, with barely any energy— was still this complicated. One careless mistake, and it could cause such a terrifying explosion.

Chloe could already picture how insane an explosion from an Epic magic material with energy storage would be.

It’d probably blow a massive hole in her territory.

‘No wonder Enchantment is considered the toughest subject in magic. It’s basically magic’s version of physics,’ Chloe thought. ‘Man, this is tough.’

Back in Alden’s class, those classmates whose faces were always a blur were muttering about how enchanting was ridiculously hard, saying the Magic Academy would probably drop the course sooner or later.

She wiped the sweat off her forehead-her shirt was sticking to her back, cold and damp.

She took a swig of dew to steady herself.

‘Was she going to give up on enchanting? Not a chance, Chloe thought.

Chloe stopped thinking she was some prodigy who’d get it right away. Her plan was to master breaking down and enchanting Slime Ooze first, and once she got the hang of it, she’d move on to other low-level Arcane Materials.

Luckily, Alden’s course came with a fat stack of A4 sheets full of enchanting material info.

She had materials, tutorials, and notes from people who’d done this before.

It wasn’t impossible to learn.

Chloe wiped the sweat from her forehead, only then realizing that two whole hours had slipped by while she was breaking down the Slime Ooze.

The sky was completely dark, and the streetlights flickered on and off.

It was the same view she’d gotten used to these past few days, but for some reason, Chloe felt a cold chill crawl over her, her bones trembling with instinctive fear.
