Chapter 95 The Music Box of Life

Chloe thought, ‘It can auto-repair? That’s invincible.’

After Chloe upgraded her domain to Level 1, she could now see the levels of all her buildings on the System Panel-all LVO.

Upgrading the domain only gave each building a single chance to level up. It wasn’t like all the buildings got upgraded at once.

So, upgrade chances were pretty valuable.

The High Heat Metallurgy Workshop she’d built didn’t even have an upgrade option.

Chloe suddenly wondered, ‘If the Glass Conservatory was completed, could it level up together with the Wooden Cabin? After all, in some ways, the Glass Conservatory and the Wooden Cabin were basically one

unit.’

Chloe glanced at the upgrade materials for the Wooden Cabin-200 Premium Wooden Logs and 50 units of Premium-grade Slime materials or better.

‘Guess I’ll find out once the Glass Conservatory is done, Chloe thought.

It was a foggy, smoggy day, and the haze really put a damper on trading. Players just weren’t in the mood to make deals.

Chloe didn’t let it bother her. She checked the chest she’d earned from the Arcane Defense Tower’s barrage last night and popped it open.

Then the notification popped up: [Congratulations, Player. You’ve received: Damaged, Worn-Out Music Box

[Congratulations, Player. You’ve received: Grapevine Seeds x10

[Congratulations, Player. You’ve received: Wine-Making Process Blueprint

[Congratulations, Player. You’ve received: Wine-Brewing Workshop xl.

[Congratulations, Player. You’ve received: Weapon Blueprint-Longsword]

When Chloe saw the matching wine set, her eyes sparkled.

She loved wine.

Honestly, it was a no-brainer. Wine-making was super valuable in a survival domain game like this.

Chloe made planting grapevines a top priority.

Even if she couldn’t set up a winery yet, just being able to grow grapes was pretty great.

Chloe collected all the items, feeling pretty pleased with herself.

The notification read: [Damaged, Worn-Out Music Box: This music box is missing its energy crystal. It features several tracks beloved by Beatrice and her plants, but it’s currently unusable due to damage.

[Quality: Special

[Nature: Treasure

[When the music is played, it may boost plant growth and grant a random buff or debuff lasting 12 hours.]

Chloe spotted the familiar name and couldn’t resist taking another glance.

She held the music box in her hand, examining it closely. The shell was rusted, and there were several slots for magic crystals that had been deliberately hollowed out.

There were marks showing the bottom had been crushed underfoot.

When Chloe touched the music box, the words “Unusable” hovered above it.

Just as Chloe was about to put the music box away, a thought struck her. ‘Maybe she could try blessing it?

‘I wonder if a blessing could actually repair something that’s damaged?’

Chloe paused for a moment and then decided it was worth a shot.

As for the Arcane Soil Purifier, Chloe figured she’d hold off on using her Talent Blessing until she got her hands on some higher-tier Arcane Materials.

But this music box could boost plant growth, and that was exactly what she needed right now.

Chloe glanced at her available talent points for the day.

She had exactly 5 points.

After thinking it over, Chloe went ahead and used her Talent Blessing on the music box.

The music box in Chloe’s hand was enveloped in a shimmering pink-purple radiance.

The glow lasted for what felt like ages.

After five minutes had passed, Chloe finally laid eyes on the newly transformed item.

The notification explained: [Music Box of Life-Optimism & Pessimism: It loves to celebrate life, praise the sun and moon, and shower plants with compliments.

[This box is devoted to nature and sings for all living things. Of course, when it’s in a pessimistic mood, things take a very different turn.

[Quality: Special plus.

[Magic Threat Level: High Danger

[Magic Traits: Life Energy, Life Enthusiasm, Emotional Stirring, Life Assistance, Blessing, Supreme, Ornament, Spatial Teleportation

[Loyalty: 0

[Effect 1: Every day, it sings for plants within a 15-by-15 area, boosting their growth speed and reducing negative mood effects, filling them with hope.

[Effect 2: The Music Box of Life’s music has a chance to enhance plants’ vitality and life energy, helping them grow even healthier.

[Effect 3: When placed in a cozy, beautiful environment, it may compose new melodies, learn new songs, and unlock fresh effects.

[But if the surroundings are filthy or unpleasant, it’ll get moody, might stop singing, and could even start cursing loudly, messing with the minds of nearby creatures.]

[Effect 4: It’s loyal to nature. If it’s loyal to a patch of land, there’s a chance to receive daily gifts from life itself. But if it hates the soil, and its loyalty drops to -100, it’ll periodically bring disasters to that land.

[Effect 5: Keep it optimistic. If the Music Box of Life stays pessimistic for too long, it’ll bring unexpected consequences.]

This was the first time Chloe had ever seen an item with five effects.

And its quality was Special plus.

Chloe knew Special items were useful, but she was totally blown away by how many effects a blessed Special item could have.

‘Optimistic, huh?’ Chloe mused to herself.

She turned the music box over in her hands, wondering how she was supposed to make it feel optimistic.

All of a sudden, a voice rang out, startling Chloe so much she nearly jumped out of her skin. “Oh, mother of mercy.”

The voice came out in a bizarre, dramatic rhythm, almost like it was chanting poetry, and it was ridiculously flamboyant. “How disgustingly dirty is this place.

“Oh my god. Corruption everywhere, trash everywhere.

“What the heck is that crooked thing? Is that supposed to be a bathroom? Heavens above.”

Chloe nearly jumped out of her skin.
