Chapter 633-2
Chapter 633-2
don’t think little of them. I’m being realistic… no one wants to say it, but you know me.”
Her expression remained completely serious.
“Most of them would rather sit behind a desk or work or a farm than pick up a weapon,
Meanwhile, some of the women who volunteered to join the military are better fighters than half
the men.”
I shook my head, still laughing.
“You haven’t changed.”
“Neither have you….”
I looked at her.
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“You still laugh when you know I’m right.”
That only made me laugh again.
She was not entirely wrong, though.
I had grown up in Silver Hollow. I knew exactly what she meant. The pack had never been known for having a particularly aggressive military culture. We had warriors, of course, but compared to Blood Crescent, our military structure had always been considerably smaller. And unrefined.
I looked ahead.
“That’s why I’m glad Jason started changing things,” I said casually.
Sage nodded.
“He’s been trying.”
We walked in silence for a few moments.
I found myself thinking about the training ground again.
They didn’t look like they were just training… it looked like they were actually preparing.
For what, I wasn’t entirely sure. But whatever Jason had in mind, he was taking it seriously.
“How long has this been going on?” I asked.
Sage looked at me.

“What?”
“The training, the new security system. All of it.”
She shrugged.
“Some of the changes started just recently.”
“Recently?”
“Yes,” she said.
I nodded slowly.
There was something strange about that.
The extra security posts had caught my attention the moment I entered Silver Hollow. Now I had seen the training ground, and there were far more wolves training than I remembered ever seeing
before.
Maybe Jason really was simply trying to strengthen the pack.
That was certainly possible.
Maybe after everything that had happened with the invasion the other time, perhaps Jason had learned and decided that the pack could no longer afford to be complacent.
I didn’t think too much about it.
We continued toward the main house.
The night air was cool against my skin.
There was something comforting about walking through the place where I had spent most of my
life.
It felt familiar enough to make me forget, for a moment, that I had been away for months.
Then Sage spoke again.
“Do you remember when we used to sneak out of the house at night to come here?”
I turned to her with a laugh.
“We didn’t sneak out. We walked around until we found ourselves here,” I said.
Sage nodded. “Without telling anyone. That was totally normal.”
We laughed.

“You were always the one dragging me into trouble,” she said.
“That’s a lie. I wanted to see Jason, and you always volunteered to come along.” There was a moment of awkward silence the moment I said that.
Sage broke the silence. “You once convinced me to climb over the back wall because you wanted to see what was happening at the training ground at night.”
I chuckled. “And we didn’t get caught.”
“Only because we were lucky.”
