Chapter 633-1
PAYE
Sage and I were still walking, though we had already left the training ground behind us. The sounds of the soldiers training had gradually faded into the distance, replaced by the quieter sounds of the compound around us.
I glanced back once.
Even from where we were, I could still see a few groups continuing their exercises under the lights. Silver Hollow had certainly changed since I left.
“I have to admit, seeing all of that was impressive. It’s a good development,” I said. “At Blood Crescent, you can practically call every wolf a soldier.”
Sage looked at me. “Every wolf?”
“Almost every one… Yes,” I said. “Everyone receives some form of combat training. Even the younger wolves start early. By the time they come of age, they’re already familiar with the basics, so it’s much easier for them to catch up when they begin more advanced training.”
Sage nodded thoughtfully. “So there’s a lot of training?”
“All the time.”
I looked ahead as we continued walking.
“Seriously. You could pick almost any hour of the day, and you’d find someone training. There are different groups, different levels, different schedules. Someone is always doing something.”
I paused briefly before adding, “I actually think it’s a good thing that Silver Hollow is doing something similar now.”
Sage glanced at me like she was surprised I said that.
“You mean training civilians as soldiers?”
“Yes.”
I shrugged.
“It makes sense. Not everyone has to become a full-time soldier, but everyone should at least know how to defend themselves,” I said.
Sage was quiet for a moment. Then she frowned slightly.

“What about the really young ones?”
“What about them?” I asked.
“If there’s a war, would they be expected to fight too?” Sage asked.
I looked at her:
“No.”
The answer came easily.
Not at Blood Crescent, anyway. We have enough trained warriors that there would be no reason to
end children to the front.”
Sage smirked.
“Even though they’re trained?”
I laughed. “Training doesn’t automatically mean you’re sent to war, Sage.”
I smiled faintly.
“There’s a difference between preparing someone to defend themselves and sending them into a battlefield,” I said.
“What about the women? Do the women go to war in Blood Crescent too?”
I thought about it for a moment.
“They might now,” I said.
Sage raised an eyebrow.
“Now? What do you mean?”
I shrugged.
“Before I got to Blood Crescent, things were a little different.”
I continued walking beside her.
“The women were still trained, and they were still considered soldiers, but their training sessions were usually separate from the men’s. They weren’t normally expected to go to the front.”
Sage looke
“Reall

“That’s not how things work here,” she said, like she had forgotten who she was talking to.
“Of course I know that,” I said, shoving her playfully.
She laughed…
“Silver Hollow has always been different in that regard,” I added.
Sage gave a small laugh.
“Of course we have,” she said. “If someone is fit enough to fight, why shouldn’t they fight?”
“I agree with you,” I said. “That’s actually one of the things I changed at Blood Crescent.”
Her expression became more curious.
“Really? How exactly did you manage that?” she asked.
I smiled.
“I convinced Alexander that it didn’t make sense to separate them when both men and women were capable of doing the same work… I was a good example myself. Besides, what if we had a daughter someday? He wouldn’t want such limitations placed on his daughter.”
Sage laughed.
“I can imagine that conversation.”
I rolled my eyes. “It wasn’t as difficult as you think. Now the men and women train together.”
Sage nodded approvingly.
