Chapter 632
THIRD POV-
Alice remained in bed for several minutes after Jason left. She stayed exactly where he had left. her, wrapped in the bedsheet and staring at the closed door. The room had become quiet again, but her mind was still occupied by the conversation they had just had.
She hadn’t expected Jason to simply agree to her request. In fact, she would have been surprised if he had. Jason had never been the kind of man who made important decisions because
someone pressured him into doing so. He preferred to do it when he wanted and how he wanted
Alice understood that about him.
She also understood that pushing him too hard would only make things more difficult. Jason responded better when he believed something was his own idea rather than something he had been forced into doing.
So, no, she wasn’t particularly disappointed by his response.
If anything, she now understood that she simply had to work on her patience.
Alice slowly turned onto her back and pulled the sheet higher around herself. She stared at the ceiling for a moment before her thoughts shifted to the future she wanted.
Her hand moved slowly to her stomach. She rested her palm against it and smiled faintly.
She couldn’t wait to confirm that she was pregnant with Jason’s child.
Once that happened, she would finally see how he would be able to put anyone else above the woman carrying his child.
His so-called Luna couldn’t even give him an heir. Who knew if she even had a womb to begin with? That was the difference between her and Sage.
Sage had the title, but Alice was working hard to give Jason something Sage probably couldn’t.
An heir.
The thought brought a small smile to her face.
She imagined how different everything would become once she was carrying Jason’s child. The whispers would change. The looks people gave her would change. More importantly, Jason’s attitude toward her would have to change.
Chapter 632
He could continue pretending that their relationship was something he could keep separate from his position as Alpha, but a child would make that impossible.
Alce glanced toward the bedside table. The small bottle of contraceptives was still sitting there.
Jason had given it to her himself.
She reached over and picked it up, turning it slowly between her fingers.
A quiet chuckle escaped her.
Jason had no idea. He still believed she had continued taking them exactly as he expected. He believed the bottle sitting beside her bed was enough proof that she was following his
instructions.
But Alice had stopped taking them some time ago.
She had never told him. There was no reason to.
She had kept the bottle close because she wanted Jason to see it anytime he came over. That way, he would believe that everything was still under control.
She knew exactly what she was doing. For now, she needed him to remain comfortable.
She placed the bottle back on the bedside table and looked at it for a moment.
Then she glanced down at her stomach again.
She wanted Jason’s child, but it wasn’t simply because she wanted to become a mother. She wasn’t even sure that she was ready for that part. But she knew what carrying his child would mean for her life.
A child would give her a connection to Jason that nobody could easily dismiss. Especially if she gave him the child before Sage did…if she ever would.
It would make her more than the woman he was secretly seeing. It would give her a place in his life that would be much harder for anyone to challenge. Her place in his life would be secure.
Most importantly, it would make it much more difficult for Jason to keep her at a distance.
It was funny how, not too long ago, Alice had been that naive girl who was satisfied with just warming Jason’s bed and enjoying the little benefits attached to that.
Before, all she had wanted was to be in his life quietly and keep receiving the handouts he threw
her way.
But thanks to Sage’s attitude, Alice suddenly realised she wanted more.
Chapter 632
Alice wanted recognition. She wanted security. She wanted the life she believed she deserved.
And she wasn’t ashamed of that anymore.
She had spent enough time being treated like someone who belonged in the background. She had tolerated the whispers, the judgment, and the way people looked at her whenever she walked through the pack house.
That was no longer enough for her. She wanted something permanent.
She wanted to be acknowledged. And she believed Jason’s child could give her exactly that.
She leaned back against the headboard and closed her eyes for a moment.
Her thoughts returned to Jason. Something about him had been different today.
She had noticed it during their conversation. It wasn’t just that he didn’t agree to what she had said. He had also been distracted.
He had barely been paying attention to what she was saying, and there had been moments when he seemed to be somewhere else entirely.
At first, she had been irritated. Now, she wondered what had occupied his mind.
Her expression hardened slightly. Then the possible answer came to her… Faye.
Alice opened her eyes.
She couldn’t say for certain that Faye was the reason Jason had been distracted, but she had noticed something different about him since Faye arrived earlier.
Alice didn’t like that.
She didn’t know what it meant, and she wasn’t going to make assumptions without proof, but she wasn’t blind either.
She had seen the way Jason looked earlier. She had seen the hesitation.
She had noticed the strange tension in the air since Faye arrived. It was not just Jason; it was more like the entire pack. It was actually annoying.
Faye hadn’t done anything to her. In fact, Faye had barely acknowledged her when they met. She had simply looked at Alice with polite confusion before turning her attention back to Jason.
But somehow, that had irritated Alice more than open hostility would have.
Faye had looked at her as though she were simply someone who didn’t deserve attention. Faye
was once important in the pack; she was also Jason’s ex, but that didn’t mean she was special.

Chapter 632
Alice didn’t like being treated as though she were insignificant.
“Forget that, Alice,” she said to herself.
