Leonora struggled to breathe, her resistance fierce, and only then did Taylor relent. With his forehead pressed against hers and their noses touching, he gazed at her tenderly. "Leonora, let's make up."
He'd agreed to break up with her last time in a fit of anger. More importantly, he knew Leonora was just mad, and if he hadn't gone along with her, she would have turned the world upside down. So, he had agreed to the breakup, giving her some time to cool off.
When Taylor spoke of reconciliation, Leonora looked up at him. "Taylor, that day..."
Before she could finish, Taylor interrupted. "I admit, when I first approached you, I had an ulterior motive. But after being with you, I realized I had gone too far."
"I always knew you were innocent, and I was the scoundrel."
"Leonora, we both know that if I was just seeking revenge against Grant, once would have been enough. But we stayed together for more than two years."
"We can't deny that over these years, our feelings for each other have grown deep. My feelings for you have long since moved past revenge."
"We never officially talked about this, maybe because we took it for granted that we'd end up together. It was my mistake not to recognize my own feelings."
"Leonora, let's get back together! Let's date like any other couple, just because I want to be with you. Is that okay?"
Without explicitly mentioning love, Taylor made his feelings very clear. He was moved, he cared about Leonora, and he wanted to be with her, not for anyone else, but for himself.
Leonora was already surprised by Taylor's appearance today. And now, she was even more surprised by his words. She never expected Taylor would talk about wanting a normal relationship, wanting to be with her.
With a straight gaze, Leonora bit her lip, at a loss for words.
Seeing this, Taylor took her by the neck, pulling her towards him, and kissed her again.
After the kiss, Leonora looked at Taylor seriously. "Taylor, I didn't expect to run into you tonight, let alone hear you say these things."
"I'll wait for you to think it over. I'm not in a hurry for an answer," Taylor said. "Just, Leonora, before you give me your answer, don't refuse to see me."
Taylor's concession gave Leonora a moment of relief. "Okay."
With Taylor speaking to her reasonably, Leonora found it easier to respond. Taylor smiled at her compliance.
Then, after kissing her one more time, he started the car to take her home.
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped downstairs at Leonora's place. As she was unbuckling her seatbelt and preparing to get out, Taylor caught her hand.
Turning to him, Leonora asked, "You're not suggesting..."
Taylor, knowing what she was about to say, smiled. "My uncle, he's not in good health; I can't keep fighting with him all my life." He paused, then explained further, "As for Ava, what happened between us was over a decade ago. I'm not doing this because of anyone else."
"Leonora, I want to be with you for myself."
