30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 543

After unexpectedly bumping into each other, Leonora seemed a lot more composed than she had been in days. Her parents had finally sorted out the mess with her uncle, and they were more passionate and appreciative of life than ever before.

One evening, Leonora stayed late at the office. As she waited for the elevator to go home, she saw Grant inside.

She hesitated, feeling awkward. Staying at Ferguson Group seemed like a bad decision; it only led to these uncomfortable encounters.

Inside the elevator, Grant noticed her pause and quickly reached out to hold the doors open. "Arielle," he called out.

Hearing her name snapped Leonora back to reality. She greeted him politely, "Mr. Taylor," and stepped in.

As the elevator descended, Grant broke the silence. "Working late?"

"Yes," she replied.

They made small talk until the elevator reached the ground floor. Just as Leonora was about to say goodbye, Grant spoke up, "Arielle, you haven't had dinner yet, right? Let's grab a bite nearby."

"No, it's okay, my mom..." Leonora started but was cut off.

"Dinner won't take long, and it's been a while since we had a good chat," Grant insisted.

Since Grant had returned and aside from that one time he sought her out to explain himself, he hadn't really disrupted her life. Leonora felt it would be petty to refuse.

"Alright then," she agreed.

Grant's face lit up, his eyes sparkling. They walked to the outdoor parking lot together, and Grant quickly opened the passenger door for her. Leonora thanked him and got into the car.

Grant couldn't hide his smile as he got into the driver's seat. After asking what she wanted to eat and getting a "whatever's fine" in response, he chose a nearby restaurant known for its home-style cooking, which he knew she liked.

At the restaurant, Grant's care for Leonora was unmistakable, and he seemed genuinely happy. For the first time since their unexpected parting over two years ago, he felt such joy.

After the waiter served the dishes, Grant poured tea for Leonora, asking, "Arielle, how have you been?"

Grant knew about Leonora's breakup with Taylor and that she had taken some time off work afterward.

Accepting the tea, Leonora held the cup with both hands. "Pretty good," she said.

When Grant softly inquired about her and Taylor, Leonora looked at him. "Taylor and I have broken up, amicably."

She paused before adding, "He ran into his first love at a restaurant one day. She explained a misunderstanding from the past."

Explaining this was awkward for Leonora. Their rivalry had turned her into a mere pawn in their game, a joke.
