Thinking about how the ordeal was finally over and those troublemakers wouldn't come knocking anymore, Shania felt a huge weight lift off her shoulders. Her brother had settled the matter with $20,000, and that was the end of it.
She had been worried sick they'd cause a scene at school, but now, there was peace.
It felt incredibly good, like a divine favor was still watching over their family.
Hearing from her mom that the issue was resolved and those troublemakers wouldn't come around anymore, Leonora's eyes widened in shock, but a wave of relief washed over her.
After days of stress and torment, it was finally over.
She dropped her bag and started talking with her mom about the resolution when her dad came home, announcing that everything was completely settled. Both parties had signed the police report and judgment.
A melodramatic misunderstanding had finally come to a close. Lying in bed that night, Leonora couldn't help but harbor some doubts.
Those people looked tough, and the victim's son was hell-bent on extorting them, having gathered a bunch of goons to stake out daily. How did they suddenly back off?
Tossing and turning, Leonora had a thought but dared not delve too deep, fearing she was overthinking.
Lost in these thoughts, she eventually fell asleep.
Having not rested well the past few days, Leonora slept deeply, almost oversleeping and rushing to her company, sprinting towards the elevator.
Panting, she made it just in time before the doors closed, darting in.
To her surprise, she found herself alone with Blake in the elevator.
Seeing Blake, Leonora greeted him politely, relieved that Taylor wasn't there today, just Blake.
"Ms. Arielle," Blake greeted back politely before adding, "By the way, Ms. Arielle, is everything resolved with your family matter? Those people didn't come by last night, did they?"
Blake's sudden mention of her family startled Leonora.
So, the reason those people didn't bother her yesterday was indeed thanks to him and Taylor.
Leonora's surprised look made Blake explain with a smile, "I only found out about it the afternoon before yesterday, and I accidentally mentioned it to Mr. Taylor. He was so worried he dropped everything and immediately had it taken care of."
In reality, Taylor hadn't directly intervened; he didn't need to. He simply instructed Blake to handle it, so it was Blake who took care of everything.
Hearing Blake's explanation, Leonora felt a mix of emotions.
She had suspected last night that Taylor might be involved, and it turned out he was the one who helped.
Looking at Blake, Leonora said, "Blake, please tell Taylor thank you for me."
"I'm really grateful to both you and Taylor."
Aside from expressing her thanks, Leonora didn't know what else to say.
"Sure, I'll definitely pass on your thanks to Mr. Taylor," Blake assured with sincerity, and all Leonora could feel was gratitude.
Once the elevator doors opened, Leonora politely bid Blake goodbye and stepped out first.
Throughout the workday, she found her thoughts drifting to Taylor and what Blake had told her.
After work, Leonora decided to invite Joselyn out for dinner.
Hearing about the situation with her uncle and dad, and how Taylor had stepped in to help, Joselyn's opinion of Taylor changed.
