Taylor's gaze landed on Leonora, thinking to himself how leisurely her "illness" seemed.

In reality, Leonora had recovered from her cold by the second day of resting at home. She was simply feeling lazy and didn't want to face the many tasks awaiting her, so she chose to hide away.

At this moment, she had just returned from a job interview, where they told her to wait for further notice. As she was about to enter her apartment complex, a car nearby suddenly honked at her.

Turning her head, Leonora saw the familiar Maybach and felt her heart leap into her throat. Why was Taylor here? Why hadn't he called her beforehand?

Feeling guilty, she watched as the car window rolled down, only to hear Taylor say nonchalantly, “Get in.”

Suppressing her breath, Leonora swallowed and eventually opened the passenger side door to get in. Glancing at Taylor, she asked with a forced smile, “What brings you here?”

“I came to see you.”

As the car started, Taylor knew that Leonora had been to other companies for interviews, but he didn't mention it, nor did he argue with her about it. He knew she wouldn't get the job, so there was no point in starting a foolish argument and possibly making things worse between them.

Taylor's strategy in dealing with Leonora was simple: be kind to her, not bring up things she didn’t want to discuss, and if she mentioned breaking up, he'd manage to calm her down first. He was confident she would still care about their bond from the past two years and wouldn't want to let him go.

After Taylor said he came to see her, Leonora stopped talking, feeling guilty. She had thought Taylor would confront her about lying, but he didn’t even ask where she had been. Instead, he held her hand and asked, “Is your cold better?”

“It’s better,” she replied, adding, “I’ve been feeling a bit tired from work, so I took a few days off to rest at home.”

“Last time, I invited you to accompany me on a business trip to get some fresh air, but you didn’t want to,” Taylor continued. “Then I’ll arrange a company retreat. That way, you won’t have to worry about planning a trip; everything will be organized for you.”

Hearing this, Leonora quickly said, “No need, I was just feeling a bit lazy. Don’t make such a big fuss over it.”

The thought of him arranging a retreat just for her to relax seemed too grand of a gesture for her to accept. At the same time, she felt even more guilty, thinking that interviewing at other companies behind Taylor's back might be somewhat disloyal. But she had no choice; she didn't want to accompany him to Southbay every day.

Seeing Leonora flustered, Taylor said, “If you don’t like that idea, then I’ll take a few days off next week to go somewhere with you. Do you prefer the beach or an ancient town?”

Before Leonora could respond, Taylor added, “Never mind, you’re such a homebody and don’t like going out much, so let me make the arrangements.”

“There’s no need, you’re so busy with work, don’t bother with these things.”

“Even with work, it’s important to relax. I’ve been wanting to go out for a while, and it’d be nice to have you as company.” Taylor thought it would be good for her, considering her current emotional state and mental burden, to take a break and possibly deepen their relationship.

Listening to Taylor, Leonora could only say, “We’ll see.”
