After Blake spoke, Taylor's face fell even more. Why come back after all this time abroad? Couldn't he have just stayed there and taken care of himself? Did he actually think he could beat him? Two years ago, before Taylor left, the two had a major showdown. You know what they say: this town isn’t big enough for the both of us. Neither wanted to bow to the other.
Despite Grant being a pretty easy-going guy, he couldn't stand Taylor's overbearing attitude. Otherwise, Taylor would just get even more full of himself. Eventually, Keith handed the company over to Taylor, and Grant disappeared overnight. At that time, he and Leonora were madly in love. He vanished without even saying goodbye.
Leonora tried to contact him in the beginning, but it was pointless. His phone number eventually got disconnected. Their breakup was like falling off a cliff, leaving Leonora heartbroken for a long time until Taylor came into the picture. It was only then, in the middle of their twisted relationship, that Leonora learned the truth about Grant's identity, and her attention shifted to Taylor.
Slowly but surely, she began to forget about Grant, her love and hatred now completely wrapped up with Taylor. With a gloomy face and a heavy heart, Taylor coldly told Blake, "I get it. Go back to work."
Hah! Let him come back. Whether it's the company or Leonora, he won’t stand a chance. After Blake left the office, Taylor seemed calm on the outside, but inside was a different story. Even after two years, he still couldn't stand Grant. He called Leonora, hoping she could join him for lunch, but she happened to be out on an errand and wouldn’t be back by noon.
After hanging up with Leonora, Taylor quickly dialed Blake's number: “Blake, check if Leonora went out with Mr. Liu for that errand today.” “Certainly, Mr. Taylor.” With Grant back, Taylor felt uneasy. Leonora didn’t know why Grant had suddenly disappeared back then, but Taylor did and had never told her. He feared Grant would seek her out upon his return, worried she might lie to him.
After ending the call, Taylor felt an unfamiliar sense of crisis, something he had never experienced before. For the first time in his life, he was genuinely afraid of losing someone. What Taylor hadn’t figured out yet was whether his feelings for Leonora were born out of genuine affection or his competitive nature.
Soon, Taylor’s phone rang again; it was Blake calling. After answering, Blake reported, “Mr. Taylor, Ms. Arielle went to inspect the branch office with Sean today. Do you need me to call her back now?” “No need.”
Learning that Leonora was working and hadn’t encountered Grant gave Taylor some relief. Since Leonora was unaware, Taylor decided not to disturb her, not wanting to affect her work and risk another confrontation. Over the past two years, he had come to understand Leonora’s temperament well. She wasn’t the type to seek favor through connections; she wouldn’t give anyone the time of day unless she wanted to, unless they found her Achilles' heel. And even then, it couldn’t be through force but a mix of tactics.
