30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 500

Today, she laid it out plain and simple: he either picks his own wife or goes along with her matchmaking. It was his call.

"..." Taylor was left speechless by his mother's ultimatum.

Kristin, she must've been itching to drop this bombshell for a while now.

Staring at his mom, seeing her determined stance, Taylor couldn’t help but find the situation both frustrating and amusing.

Setting down his cutlery, Taylor replied calmly, "I'll think about it."

Carrie didn’t like that one bit. Her brows furrowed as she said, "What’s there to think about? Since when did you get so indecisive? I want a straight answer from you today—"

Before she could finish, Taylor stood up from the table, saying casually, "Mom, forcing me won’t work. And don’t go behind my back to meet Arielle. Otherwise, I can guarantee you won't be holding any grandkids anytime soon."

Carrie's face was exactly as he expected.

She grabbed her phone off the table and threw it at him. "You ungrateful brat! Are you threatening me?"

Taylor dodged the phone, picked up his own, and walked towards the foyer as if nothing had happened. "Mom, don’t make a scene. I'm heading out."

As he was about to leave, Carrie continued to nag, "Do you even know how old you are? And can't you buy that girl something nice? Taking her to the supermarket for bread? I'm embarrassed for you."

Taylor chuckled, "Mom, that's where you're wrong. It's about sharing life with her."

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to buy Leonora nice things; grocery shopping was part of her routine. He didn’t want to force her to change; he chose to adapt to her, to be with her.

Carrie laughed, "You’re talking about sharing life, yet you claim she’s just a friend. Do you think I’m a fool?"

She knew her son’s feelings well, but still hoped he'd treat the girl right and marry her soon.

As they reached the door, Taylor said, "Mom, Arielle is different from the girls I've dated before." He paused, then continued, "Just give me some time."

Carrie, listening to Taylor, didn’t press too hard. "I hope you can hold on to the one you love. And since you mentioned thinking it over, make sure you do it seriously."

"Okay." With that, Taylor headed to the garage, started his car, and drove off.

Carrie kept nagging about how he didn’t visit home enough and should rest at home, even as she watched him drive away. She sighed, hoping he would settle down soon.

--

After leaving home, Taylor didn’t go back to his usual place but headed to Southbay instead.

It wasn’t too late yet, and he thought about picking up Leonora. But remembering her request to meet earlier because staying up late affected her rest and immunity, he decided against calling her.

Anything Leonora mentioned, Taylor kept in mind and tried his best to accommodate her wishes.

He remembered every word she said.

He tossed his phone lightly onto the coffee table, thinking of Leonora in Southbay, cuddled up with him watching TV, sometimes bursting into laughter. A smile naturally formed on his lips.

It seemed he needed to find a way to have Leonora stay in Southbay.
