30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 498

Devon stepped out of the house and saw Leonora standing at the doorway, surrounded by several grocery bags. He said, “Arielle, why didn’t you just come in after you got back?” Then he added, “You bought all this stuff and didn’t think to call me for help?”

Leonora stood there with a pile of groceries at her feet, and Devon hadn’t even noticed Taylor standing in the hallway.

When Devon appeared, Leonora avoided looking at Taylor. She forced a smile and said, “I thought you and Mom were already asleep, so I didn’t want to bother you, Dad.”

As she spoke to Devon, Leonora discreetly motioned for Taylor to leave, signaling him to stop lingering behind her.

Taylor, with a slight grin and his hands shoved into his pockets, turned and headed downstairs. Though he had the urge to stir up some trouble, he decided against making things difficult for Leonora.

Devon, hearing Leonora’s explanation, bent down to pick up the grocery bags. Only then did he notice someone else in the hallway.

Spotting the tall figure, Devon instantly knew this person wasn’t from their neighborhood—nobody around here had that kind of presence.

Without straightening up, Devon watched Taylor for a bit before turning to Leonora, “Arielle, did someone just go downstairs? Is that guy from our building?”

Finally aware of Taylor, Leonora couldn’t decide whether to praise Devon for his attention to detail or be frustrated by it. If her mom had come out instead, she and Taylor would have definitely been caught red-handed.

Following Devon’s gaze, Leonora said, “Yeah, someone did go down. Probably a relative of someone from upstairs.”

“Thought so, never seen him before,” Devon remarked, carrying the heaviest bags inside.

Seeing this, Leonora grabbed the remaining bags and followed him in.

After placing the groceries on the dining table, Leonora couldn’t help but glance down the hallway one more time as she closed the door. She felt a mix of relief and embarrassment seeing that Taylor had left. Despite his help, she had been so eager to get him to leave.

Inside, Devon started putting the groceries away while Leonora grabbed her pajamas and headed to the bathroom.

Downstairs, Taylor didn’t leave right away. He leaned against his Maybach, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it. Blowing perfect smoke rings, he looked up at Leonora’s window, the light still on, and couldn’t help but smile.

In the past, other women had begged him to come upstairs, but he never felt inclined. But now, he wanted to visit Leonora’s home, to see the environment she grew up in, yet there he was, standing at her doorstep without entering. It felt ironic.

How the tables have turned!

After finishing his cigarette, Taylor crushed it on the pavement, surprised at the depth of his feelings for Leonora and how much he was willing to accommodate her.
