Taylor looked right into her eyes and asked, "Leonora, I know I've been good to you these past couple of years, but this isn't the life I want. I crave a normal relationship, dream of a cozy home, and yearn for a beautiful, smiling baby."
"We," Leonora paused, then continued, "We grew up in different worlds and have different understandings of love. It's inevitable that our paths will diverge."
"So, can we end this here?"
After a previous argument filled with harsh words, Taylor still showed up at the hospital to see her.
So this time, Leonora tried a different approach to communicate.
Her sincerity shone through as she spoke of her hopes for love and marriage. Taylor, with a chuckle, asked, "Can't I be what you're hoping for?"
Caught off guard by his words, Leonora fell silent, unsure of what to say next.
The unexpected question left her speechless.
Their eyes locked, and seeing Leonora at a loss for words, Taylor took her hand, saying, "Let's wait for Grant to return before deciding." He added, "After waiting for two years, a couple more weeks won't matter."
It was then Leonora truly understood.
He wanted to hold onto her, to provoke Grant in person.
But discussing this with Taylor now was her way of avoiding awkwardness upon Grant's return.
And, would Grant even care?
Though she wanted to lash out at Taylor, Leonora found she didn't even have the energy to argue, knowing any emotional outburst would be futile against him. In Taylor's eyes, she was merely a tool for revenge. Who argues with a tool?
After staring at Taylor for a long moment, Leonora, with tears welling up, asked, "Do you really want to embarrass me like this?"
Taylor dodged further discussion, instead filling her plate. "Eat a little more with me."
Leonora felt a surge of frustration but managed to keep her composure, replying coldly, "I'm not hungry. Eat by yourself."
Taylor responded by lightly tapping his fork on the table, a sign of his growing annoyance. He had been patient, listening to her, even when she rushed through dinner eager to break things off. Yet, Leonora continued to ignore him, visibly straining his patience.
He had catered to her every need, even sneaking around her parents to care for her in the hospital. What more did she want?
He had never even tended to his own mother when she was ill, yet he believed he had shown Leonora absolute patience and understanding.
Frustrated, Taylor forcefully grabbed Leonora, pulling her close and kissing her intensely, surprising her with the sudden and passionate gesture.
The kiss was fierce, causing Leonora to reflexively try to push him away, but Taylor's aggression only intensified.
A sharp pain made Leonora cry out, which only spurred Taylor to carry her to the bedroom.
