30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 485

Taylor slid his resignation letter across the table, and Leonora's head snapped up, eyes wide with surprise.

"Why do you have my resignation letter?" she blurted out. "Did something happen at the company? Is there a rumor going around?"

The thought that their secret might have been discovered made her face turn as pale as a sheet.

Noticing the sudden change in her expression, Taylor spoke calmly, "Look, the economy's not great right now. Jobs are hard to come by, and the salaries out there aren't much better. How about you wait until you find something really good before making any moves?"

Leonora’s earlier look of near-explosion didn’t go unnoticed by Taylor, but he smoothly continued before she could blow up.

Letting Leonora walk away from the company, and more importantly, from him, wasn’t going to be easy. Taylor wasn’t about to let her slip away without a fight.

This was the first time Taylor had ever gone out of his way to keep a woman by his side. And as it turned out, the chase made the victory all the sweeter.

At Taylor's words, Leonora’s anger subsided a bit, but she still asked, "How did you even know I was planning to quit? And how did my resignation letter end up with you?"

Taylor, always ready with an answer, smirked, "Blake saw it in HR and just grabbed it."

Knowing what was troubling Leonora, Taylor addressed her concerns one by one.

Relieved that their secret hadn’t been exposed, Leonora let out a sigh. Neither of them spoke for a while after that; they simply enjoyed a quiet meal together, almost like an old married couple enjoying a peaceful moment amidst the chaos of life.

Even their arguments felt like those of a couple deeply entwined in each other’s lives.

Somehow, despite claiming she had no appetite, Leonora found herself eating more than she expected, and actually enjoying the food Taylor fed her.

After Leonora had her fill, Taylor cleaned up, eating the leftovers from her plate before tidying everything away.

As Taylor ate, Leonora watched him, a mix of emotions swirling within her. Seeing someone of Taylor’s stature eating her leftovers was a sight she never thought she’d witness. She wanted to protest, but the words just wouldn’t come.

Their conversations were always more one-sided, with Taylor usually taking the lead.

Returning from throwing away the scraps, Taylor noticed Leonora’s gaze on him. He approached her, gently touched her forehead, and asked, "Still hungry?"

Leonora finally spoke up, "Taylor, you really don’t have to do all this."

He didn’t need to visit her, feed her, or eat her leftovers. Leonora was used to seeing him in a position of power, untouchable and commanding. It made it easier to hold onto her resentment.
