Suddenly, a wave of unease washed over Taylor.
He had agreed to her terms that day, so why on earth had she resigned?
Glancing over Leonora's resignation letter, Taylor quickly picked up his phone to call her. On the other end, Leonora didn't pick up. When Taylor tried again, her phone was turned off.
With a dark expression, Taylor eyed Blake, who stood across the desk, barely daring to breathe. Only Leonora would dare hang up on him, block his number, and then shut off her phone.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is powered off. Please try again later." Switching to another phone, he got the same response, prompting Taylor to toss it aside in frustration.
Stubborn as a mule, he thought.
After throwing the phone, and noticing Blake still standing by, Taylor said emotionlessly, "No need to send the report to HR. I'll handle anything related to Leonora."
"Understood, Mr. Taylor."
Blake quickly left Taylor's office, eager to avoid any fallout. But it was clear Mr. Taylor wasn't ready to let go. This was far from over.
As soon as Blake left, Taylor's face soured again, and he dialed another number.

Meanwhile, at the hospital.
Leonora had just fallen asleep when her phone, lying by her pillow, woke her up. Seeing it was Taylor calling, she didn't think twice before hanging up. When Taylor called again, she blocked him and turned off her phone.
They were done, and she saw no need for further contact.
After falling ill, Leonora felt even less inclined toward Taylor, lacking the reluctance Joselyn thought she'd have, especially over the past few days. Tossing and turning in bed, her parents came by in the evening to bring her dinner. Leonora ate a little and then asked them to go home.
The doctor had said it wasn't serious; she just needed some injections and observation. After sitting with her for a while, her parents left. And so, Leonora was left alone in the room.
Having slept too much during the day, she couldn't fall asleep now and sat up to watch TV, her mind filled with thoughts of her tangled history with Taylor, including his temper that night. Flipping channels aimlessly, Leonora felt increasingly aggrieved, thinking about her unfair treatment these past two years, including this illness.
Just as she was about to try sleeping again, the door to her room suddenly swung open. Thinking her parents had come back, worried, Leonora turned to look, only to see Taylor standing there. His sudden appearance startled her, and her expression soured.
She had a bad feeling when he called earlier that day, choosing not to answer. And now, he had shown up at the hospital.
After a long stare, Leonora averted her gaze and sat silently on the bed, not speaking.
Taylor closed the door behind him and approached. Leonora's room was a double, but the other bed was empty. Seeing her stare and then quietly look away, Taylor pulled up a chair and sat beside her.
Touching her forehead, he asked, "Why didn't you tell me you were sick?"
