30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 437

In the days that followed, Sandy made it a point to spend time with Estrella, keeping her company and chatting about the case. Estrella couldn't be happier about it! She joked that it kept her from going "pregnancy-brain" dumb.

Jason continued his routine of heading to the office every day, though he cut his time there to half a day unless something special came up, spending the rest of his time with Estrella. Sometimes, they'd take leisurely strolls in the park, wander the neighborhood, catch a movie, or browse through baby boutiques. Estrella's pregnancy life turned out to be anything but boring; it felt more like a romantic adventure. When they weren't busy, they'd get lost in building Isaac's LEGO sets or engage in a couple of rounds of chess. Life was blissfully content.

Come Estrella's birthday, they arrived at the rooftop garden restaurant of Waterfall Acres, only to be soon joined by Jesse Bryce, along with Grayson Angel and Taylor, all trickling in one after the other. Jesse's baby bump was already showing.

"Happy Birthday, Estrella!"

"Happy Birthday, Estrella! Double blessings, huh!"

"Happy Birthday, Estrella!"

"Thanks, thanks," Estrella greeted everyone with a beam, thanking each one with a smile. Meanwhile, Isaac was off playing with Bryan and several other kids from the family.

"Bro, hurry up and tie the knot with my Ella, will you? Don't keep us waiting too long," Bryce teased, nudging Jason towards marriage as he handed over his gift. As the guests nearly all arrived, a former colleague of Korey's showed up to deliver a grand birthday gift on his behalf. Estrella called Korey to express her gratitude.

Just the day before, Holly had sent out engagement party invitations to her close circle; she was getting engaged. Once the wedding house was decorated, they'd set a date for the wedding. Following Catrina's departure, Holly didn't want Billy to linger in the past, so she decided to get married. She figured once she had a child and her dad got a grandkid, he'd find a new purpose to hold onto. Marrying her mom and being with her wasn't easy for her dad in this lifetime.

By 6:30 PM, all guests had arrived. The twilight of spring under the dusky sky was exceptionally beautiful, adding a magical touch to the surroundings with green leaves and red flowers everywhere. The rooftop garden restaurant at Waterfall Acres felt like a piece of paradise, instantly lifting everyone's spirits. From the 48th floor, the view offered a breathtaking panorama of most of Ravenwood. As the waitstaff began serving, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. This was one of the most well-attended gatherings in recent years.

Given Estrella's pregnancy, Jason refrained from making her join him in toasting at every table. Instead, he raised his glass in thanks to everyone, and after a brief opening, everyone dove into merry eating and chatting. Angel, usually reserved, was even quieter tonight, her interactions with Grayson seemingly strained and distant.

After Catrina set Grayson up on a blind date, which he couldn't refuse, the date apparently went well, leading to a couple more meetings. Angel, being sensible, kept a respectful distance from Grayson, no longer clinging to him as before. Without anger or jealousy, as she had no right or claim, she simply understood that her dependency on Grayson needed to be gradually withdrawn. Her affection for him had to be carefully concealed, tucked away deep inside. She couldn't disrupt his life, nor could she afford to be a burden.

Despite the heartache and the comfort from her friends, she had to adjust on her own, staying away as much as possible to lessen the pain. Perhaps due to his busy schedule or still seeing Angel as a child, Grayson failed to notice her emotional shift, mistaking her reduced presence for academic busyness. If it weren't a Saturday, Angel might not have made it to Estrella's birthday party.

As the evening wore on, and Sandy, surrounded by both adults and kids, finished singing the birthday song for Estrella, she took over slicing the birthday cake. Handing a piece to Angel, she thanked her with a smile, "Thanks, Lily sister." Angel's sweetness won Sandy over, who half-jokingly said, "Mr. Shen, Angel is so adorable. Don't rush to marry her off. My cousin is two years younger than her. Give him a chance to catch up, will you?"

Sandy's cousin immediately became the topic of playful banter, with everyone noting how Angel had grown into a lovely young lady, catching people's attention. Grayson felt a sudden tightness in his chest at the remarks, turning to look at Angel and realizing for the first time that she was no longer the little girl he remembered. In a couple of years, she would be of legal age.

After the laughter subsided, and Sandy left the party in high spirits, Grayson's gaze lingered on Angel.

"Uncle, did I get frosting on my face?" Angel asked, noticing his stare and touching her face.
