30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 422

Keith didn’t give Jason a chance to speak before cutting in, “You want to know how many people I’ve got tracking you, and you want me to call them off? Fine. But only if you agree to follow my lead from now on and take back the River surname.”

“Otherwise, kiss any peace goodbye. You’ll be too busy attending funerals,” Keith finished, leaving Jason visibly shaken.

At the same time, the old man was fuming. How could Hans and Paloma's kid turn out to be so disloyal to the River family, constantly defying him?

“It’s just a woman, for heaven’s sake. Is she really worth all this trouble?” Keith muttered, furrowing his brow in frustration.

“Keith, you might want to get your head checked. I’ve told you a million times, Estrella has nothing to do with this mess. She’s the woman I love, the mother of my child. Why are you so dead set on tearing us apart?” Jason shot back, his voice tinged with weariness.

People can get stubborn and irrational with age, he thought.

He continued, “And about the surname, it’s not that I can’t change it, but I don’t appreciate your methods or being threatened.”

To Jason, whether he was a River or a Nelson, it didn’t matter much. He could’ve been a Smith or a Johnson for all he cared.

But one thing he couldn’t stand was being pushed into a corner, and Keith had just crossed that line.

Keith was momentarily speechless, taken aback by Jason’s firm stance. After a moment of contemplation, he finally said, “She’s Cole’s daughter.”

“She wasn’t even born then,” Jason retorted, adding, “Let’s cut the nonsense. Are you going to call off your dogs or not?”

Keith’s expression darkened. “Forget it.”

“Are you sure about that?” Jason’s gaze was unyielding.

“Jason, let’s not beat around the bush. Tell me, do you still harbor hopes of returning to the Nelson fold, acknowledging Landon as your father?” Keith probed, having done his homework about Jason’s recent activities.

He reminded Jason, “Don’t forget, your parents’ death is tied to Landon.”

This mention made Jason reel in his defiance slightly.

“Kristin is unrelated to this. She’s my mom,” he asserted, unwilling to drag innocents into their feud.

Keith’s face turned a shade of red, then pale with rage. “So, this person is unrelated, that person is unrelated. Were your parents destined to die, to take the fall for someone else?”

Despite Keith’s anger, Jason remained calm and collected. “Keith, you’ve known about Landon’s son for years, yet you’ve never sought vengeance or held me accountable.”

“If I’m not mistaken, my parents must have reached out to you before they vanished, told you something that stayed your hand from Landon.”
