30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 420

The light in the room was warm and inviting, casting a cozy glow that made everything feel just right. The desk lamp shone brightly on Angel and Grayson, spotlighting them as if they were the stars of their own little world.

Angel leaned in closer to Grayson, her lips nearly brushing his cheek, and her heart pounded like a drum in her chest. Holding her breath, she could hear her heartbeat loud and clear, thumping wildly as if it was about to leap right out of her mouth.

For a moment, she felt a wave of guilt wash over her, so intense that she trembled slightly. She wanted to kiss Grayson, but fear kept her rooted in place.

She found herself staring at him, taking in his handsome features - the strong nose, thick eyebrows, and those long, dark lashes. Swallowing her nervousness, she bit her lip and finally, her lips touched Grayson's cheek.

In that instant, her heart felt like it would burst out of her chest. She couldn't feel anything, couldn't even grasp the sensation of her lips trembling against his cheek.

She felt like a thief caught red-handed.

"Angel, have you finished your homework? Did you get all the wrong answers corrected?" Suddenly, Catrina's voice came from outside the door, startling Angel. She quickly pulled back, stood up straight, and turned to the door, calling out in a flustered tone, "Auntie."

Angel's guilty conscience wasn't apparent to Catrina, who simply asked, "Is your homework done? Do you understand it all?"

Pressing her thighs against the desk, Angel nodded vigorously. "Uncle explained everything to me. I managed to finish it all."

Catrina, carrying a tray of midnight snacks, approached, and Angel glanced at Grayson quickly, explaining, "Uncle was so tired, he fell asleep."

Clutching the desk edge, Angel's heart still raced, her palms slick with sweat.

But luckily, no one had noticed her secret, or she wouldn't know what to do.

After placing the snacks on the desk, Catrina saw how anxious Angel looked and thought she was worried about her exams. "Angel, it's just one midterm. Don't stress too much. You'll catch up next time."

"Okay," Angel nodded, still on edge.

That's when Grayson woke up.

Seeing Catrina there, he called out, "Mom."

The night was quiet, and noting the time, Catrina said, "Finish your snacks and head to bed early."

After comforting Angel a bit more, she headed back to her room to rest.

The door closed softly behind her, and Angel couldn't bring herself to look at Grayson.

Unaware of what had happened, Grayson casually suggested, "Let's have something to eat."

Relieved that her secret remained safe, Angel's heart rate began to normalize, and she managed to join Grayson for the late-night snack as if nothing had happened.

Soon after finishing their meal, Grayson reviewed Angel's homework, finding all her answers correct and her thought process clear. He then stood up, "Angel, you should rest up. I'll take you to school tomorrow."

As Grayson prepared to leave, even though he was just across the hallway, Angel found herself unwilling to let him go.

Suddenly standing up, Grayson looked at her, "Any questions you still don't understand?"

Angel shook her head, "No, I got it all."

After speaking, she regretted not asking for more help. Maybe Uncle would have stayed a bit longer to teach her.

But it was already past eleven, too late for lessons.

With a serious face, she said, "I'll walk you out, Uncle."

Grayson chuckled at her politeness.

"No need for that. It's just across the door."
