As Drew’s voice trailed off, Jason finally snapped back to reality and locked eyes with Estrella. “Yeah, I’m back.”

Jason’s brief disorientation made Estrella seem even more composed. She glanced at the person standing behind him and said, “Well, you seem busy. I have a meeting, so I’ll head out.”

Jason quickly responded, “Sure.” His reply came as though he was still somewhat out of it.

Estrella, ever so calm, gave Drew a slight smile as a nod to their brief exchange before she turned and walked away, not once looking back. Her departure was crisp and decisive.

“Boss,” Drew called out, snapping Jason out of his reverie. Jason then carried on discussing work as if nothing had happened, his presence as commanding as ever, walking as though the brief encounter with Estrella hadn’t fazed him at all.

Estrella smiled, “You have a good memory.”
