30 Days Till I Divorce My Husband novel Chapter 327

Keith and Amber had given us a heads-up, telling us not to stress out because they'd be visiting in a couple of days.

Jason took his right hand off the steering wheel and grabbed mine. "Keith and Amber are a handful, aren't they?"

I chuckled, "You managed to win me over, and you're worried about Keith and Amber?"

I thought Jason was underestimating himself.

Just as Jason was about to say something, his phone rang. It was Grandpa Keith calling. Without missing a beat, he answered using the car's Bluetooth system, "Hey, Grandpa."

Right after Grandpa Keith's greeting, his serious voice came through, "Did you hear Bryce and Jesse got married? Are you up to speed on this?"

Jason was silent for a moment. He had been following the family's group chat all afternoon; of course, he knew. But he hadn't said anything, fearing Grandpa Keith would call him out for a lecture. And now, even with his silence, Keith's call found him anyway.

Hand back on the wheel, Jason replied with a slight frown, "Well, congrats to Bryce and Jesse, then. Looks like we'll be toasting to their happiness early this year."

Grandpa Keith, sensing Jason's indifference, raised his voice, "Do you think I'm making this up to pressure you? If you don't believe me, I'll send you their marriage certificate right now."

"No, that's not what I meant," Jason hurried to clarify.

But Keith was already instructing Grandma Amber beside him, "Honey, this kid thinks I'm bluffing. Show him Bryce's marriage certificate. Let's prove him wrong."

Keith wasn't as tech-savvy as Amber, who had been the one posting updates in the chat. So, she had to send the document.

As Keith finished speaking, Amber's voice came through, laced with mock annoyance, "Can't handle a phone, can't send a message on Messenger, can't even 'like' a post. What are you fussing about all day?"

Though she complained about Keith, Amber still sent the marriage certificate to Jason via Messenger.

Jason was speechless, and from the passenger seat, I looked at him with sympathy.

After sending the picture, Keith resumed his lecture, "Your grandma's shown you the proof. Now, Bryce has outpaced you. What face do you have to show around now?"

"Just the other day, you were boasting about bringing Estrella home before the New Year. Look at the date now, and you've done nothing. If it weren't for your mom organizing a family reunion for the holidays, would Estrella even consider joining the Nelsons for New Year's?"

"Don't end up behind Bryce, with a bunch of kids, while you're still stuck in the same spot. Sweet-talk your in-laws soon, and let's plan to officially ask for Estrella's hand during the holidays."

Keith's call was clearly meant to push Jason, urging him to get a move on with our marriage, to avoid dragging his feet any longer.

"I'll do my best to have you all come over for the proposal during the holidays," Jason promised, after which Keith continued his tirade before hanging up, clearly disgruntled.

In the car, post-call, Jason seemed deflated under Keith's scolding, especially since Bryce's surprise move had truly caught everyone off guard.

Turning to me, Jason said, "Honey, maybe we should pick up Grandpa and Grandma and get our paperwork sorted out too."
