Estrella felt utterly deflated by her dad's scolding. Without saying a word, she simply gave a thumbs-up and conceded, "Cole, you win."
In an effort to keep her away from Jason, it seemed like Cole would stoop to any level of mudslinging.
Across from Estrella, Jason was at a loss for words.
As they say, experience comes with age, and Cole, the sly fox, had clearly done this on purpose.
Autumn, seeing the tension, tried to smooth things over. "Come on, Cole. Stop making things up. Our girl has only ever had eyes for Jason, and let's not forget, Isaac is Jason's son."
Autumn's words brought a smile to Jason's face, while Cole's expression darkened as he commanded, "Let's eat."
Isaac, sitting next to Jason, was thoroughly entertained by the back-and-forth, enjoying the drama like a true spectator.
By nine, the family of three retreated to their bedrooms. After tucking Isaac in, Jason's gaze met with a freshly bathed Estrella, who, while applying her face cream, chuckled and said, "Jason, you've really outdone yourself. You've turned my whole family against me, and now they won't even talk to me."
To Estrella, Jason's maneuver was on par with that of a master manipulator.
Estrella's sarcasm was met with a casual response from Jason, "So, it's my fault now?"
Estrella admitted her mistake, prompting Isaac to burst into laughter, nearly making Estrella cry. When their eyes met, Isaac immediately stifled his laughter, clamping his mouth shut.
In essence, he couldn't speak to Estrella today; otherwise, she would replace Jason with a new "uncle" for Isaac.
Despite being upset with Jason in the morning, Isaac was quite fond of his dad and didn't want a new one.
Estrella was fuming internally when Isaac refused to speak. Approaching the bed, she gently kicked Jason, demanding, "Make your son talk."
Jason retorted, "You haven't made your point clear. What do you expect him to say?"
Frustrated, Estrella blurted out, "Bryce, for heaven's sake, I've admitted my mistake, isn't that enough? Stop ganging up on me."
Muttering under her breath about some "bewitching drug" Jason must've used on Isaac, Estrella was met with a question from Jason about her sincerity.
Their verbal sparring was interrupted by Isaac's laughter; he found nothing more entertaining than watching people argue.
Estrella spent the entire evening intimidated by Jason's jealousy.
Finally, she slumped next to him, resting her chin on his shoulder, and said weakly, "We were just eating and talking about Holly. What harm could come from that in broad daylight?"
Jason coolly suggested, "If you can lie to me in broad daylight, who knows what you're up to when I'm not around?"
Estrella was at her wit's end with Jason.
After a long stare-off, it was Isaac's laughter that broke the tension between them.
Seeing Jason unmoved by her advances, Estrella whispered something in his ear.
