Kneeling on the bed, her limbs trembling, Estrella was already dreading the sensation. But Jason, stubborn as ever, didn't relent.
"Jason, seriously, I can't take it anymore. Please, let’s stop."
It wasn't until Estrella's legs started shaking uncontrollably, making it impossible for her to stay up, that Jason finally let her rest. He wrapped his arms around her, and they settled into sleep. Yet, he refused to leave her side.
His persistence was both endearing and annoying. She gave him a gentle shove, "Jason, can you let me sleep already? Get off."
Jason smirked, "I haven't even moved. It's all you."
Estrella, fed up, slapped his arm lightly, "Is that what you call moving? That's cramping and shaking."
Jason couldn't help but laugh, pulling her closer, "I promise, I'll stay still. I just can't bear being apart from you, not after those three years."
He brought up the three years she had left, a sore subject for Estrella. Too tired to argue, she decided to let it go. She was exhausted, too drained to fight or even speak. Opting for silence, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Jason, still full of energy, watched her sleep. Occasionally, he couldn't resist teasing her, just to see her frown in her sleep, but he'd immediately stop, not wanting to really disturb her.
He thought to himself, hopeful that it wouldn’t take half a year to officially get back on track with her. Thinking this, he held Estrella even tighter, nuzzling and kissing her gently.
---
The next morning, Estrella woke up to the sound of Jason humming cheerfully in the bathroom. Shielding her eyes from the light, she mumbled under her breath about Jason's unwarranted enthusiasm. It's just sleep, after all. What adult makes such a big deal out of it?
"Babe, you awake?" Jason called out.
"Mhm," Estrella responded, her voice heavy with sleep.
Coming over to kiss her, Jason cooed like he was talking to a child, "Come on, let's go grocery shopping."
Estrella had always loved grocery shopping, especially during the holidays when she could pick out her favorite treats, reveling in the festive atmosphere of the supermarket.
Turning her face away, she protested weakly, "My legs are jelly, and I can barely move. I can't get up, not going."
Jason, lying atop her, teased, "Don't want to get up? Then I'll just stay right here with you…"
