You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 88

"Ash might look cold, but he cares deeply. You just need to coax him a little," Eleanor said softly. "He might be distant with us, but he truly values you. Did you know he actually reached out to us, demanding the best medical team to fix your leg?"

A rush of joy colored Reina's face, but she quickly bit her lip and looked down.

"I just feel... he hasn't forgotten Sylvia. They were together for three years. That's not easy to erase."

Eleanor couldn't even place the name at first. Hearing "three years," she vaguely recalled the little actress who used to trail after her son.

In their elite circle, where marriages were built on billionaire alliances, Eleanor had never viewed the actress as a legitimate threat.

When Ashton was younger, she figured he was just playing around. Wracked with guilt over her absence, she never dared discipline him, fearing it would trigger a vicious rebellion. Besides, he had never shown interest in any other women, which had secretly worried her.

The Wyatt bloodline was notoriously thin, relying on a single heir for generations.

When Elder Wyatt passed away, she and Harrison were dealing with a massive corporate crisis overseas and couldn't even fly back. Ashton had carried the entire burden—from orchestrating the funeral to stabilizing the plummeting stock prices—all by himself.

In moments like that, Eleanor deeply regretted not having another child.

She looked intently at Reina. "I don't care about anyone else. You are the only daughter-in-law I acknowledge. I'm counting on you to give him a few beautiful children."

Reina blushed furiously, looking perfectly demure.

"I know my son," Eleanor continued confidently. "He's stubborn, yes. But he has one absolute rule: he never touches anything someone else has tainted."

"When we used to bring him toys from abroad, if another child came over and played with them, Ash would throw them straight in the trash—no matter how much he loved them."

"So rest easy. Once he cuts ties, he never looks back. From what I hear, that little actress is already pregnant with another man's baby. Ash would never tolerate damaged goods. And I certainly would never let a woman like that step foot in our home."

She didn't pity Sylvia; she was just terrified Connor's mess would drag her down.

She had carefully tested Ashton's reaction afterward, and he had seemed completely indifferent, as if he knew nothing about it. She hadn't dared to push further. But looking back now, what if he genuinely hadn't known?

Ashton had a reputation for a terrifying temper, but he rarely ever actually exploded.

He possessed everything a man could want; very little could actually trigger him.

But when he did snap, no one could survive the fallout.

Just like that day in their childhood. Reina had seen it with her own eyes—Ashton, his face a mask of pure ice, systematically smashing his beloved toys to pieces and hurling them away, ensuring no one else could ever have them.
