You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 80

A freezing chill seeped into Sylvia's heart. For a moment, her chest felt so tight she couldn't breathe, like a massive weight was suffocating her, accompanied by a profound sense of sorrow.

"Why do you care about Reina? Haven't you seen what those people are saying about me online? Why aren't you asking if I'm okay?!"

Valerie stayed silent for a second before finally asking, "So, are you okay?"

"No, I am not okay." Sylvia's eyes burned, and her vision blurred with tears. "Why does every single one of you always take her side? Am I just supposed to sit here and take this? Am I not even a person to you?"

Hearing Sylvia's tears, Valerie quickly tried to backpedal. "I really didn't mean it like that. You're my own flesh and blood, of course I care about you. I'm just... I'm just a little anxious..."

"I know this is hard for you right now, but can you just stop fighting with Reina? We're just ordinary people. We can't compete with these massive, wealthy families..."

Sylvia hung up the phone.

That wasn't what she needed to hear right now.

Sylvia's head began to pound. The pain grew sharper and more aggressive, like a thousand needles driving into her skull. She still had the unread surgery reminder from her doctor on her phone, but she couldn't leave the apartment. She was too terrified to step outside.

But worse than the physical pain was the agonizing psychological torment that was suffocating her.

Being hated and attacked by strangers was something she felt she could survive. But realizing that in her darkest moment, not a single person was truly on her side or looking out for her... that was what made her feel like she was drowning.

Ashton's cruel refusal had forced her to see exactly how heartless he truly was.

Valerie's fake, superficial concern left her feeling an indescribable, entirely isolating loneliness.

She didn't know how much time had passed. Night had fallen outside, and the city lights flickered on one by one, hazy and blurred through the rainy mist. But inside her heart, there was only pitch-black darkness.

She slid down against the wall. The pain in her head intensified, and her body felt as heavy as lead. Curled into a tight ball, she began to hit her head against the wall, desperately trying to distract herself from the agonizing pain.

Julian opened his mouth to argue, but then he noticed her body trembling violently.

Her teeth were audibly chattering.

She was clearly in a state of shock.

Julian cracked the balcony door open just a fraction for air and then gently carried Sylvia to her bed. "Fine, we won't go. What you need right now is rest. Stop overthinking. I'm going to stay right here with you."

Julian had been out of town at a medical conference for the past few days and hadn't had time to check the internet. Once Sylvia's breathing finally steadied, he pulled out his phone to catch up on the entertainment news. The more he read, the darker his expression became.

His eyes locked onto one terrifying headline:

"Sylvia Harlow attacked with acid by crazed fan! Suspected severe disfigurement!"
