You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 67

She called Ashton.

The phone rang endlessly. Just as the call was about to drop automatically, a lazy, arrogant voice answered, thick with lingering sleep. "Who is it?"

"It's Sylvia."

The line went dead silent. There was the rustling of sheets, a faint cough, and he sounded slightly more awake. "You need something?"

Suppressing her surging emotions, Sylvia demanded, "The editing for Whispers of the Crown. Did you order the director to cut it that way?"

Ashton sounded instantly irritated. "You're calling me over something this trivial?"

"Trivial? In your eyes, what exactly qualifies as a big deal?"

A suffocating pressure clamped down on her chest. Sylvia snapped, "Are you all really that untouchable? Is basic human decency that hard for you?"

Hearing her tone, Ashton's voice dropped to a freezing chill.

"Didn't the director pay you? What, was the stunt double fee not enough?"

Sylvia was so furious her teeth chattered. "I only took my severance pay! I never authorized you to steal my footage!"

Ashton scoffed coldly. "Then we'll add more money. Is a million dollars enough for you?"

Tears instantly welled in Sylvia's eyes. "Ashton, you are an absolute bastard!"

Unmoved, Ashton spoke with brutal ice. "Who do you think you are talking to right now? Do you still think you're my girlfriend?"

Realizing there was absolutely no reasoning with him, Sylvia hung up.

Perhaps it was psychological, but a sharp pain began to throb in her head. She curled up on the sofa, desperately wanting to pop a painkiller, but out of concern for the baby, she forced herself to endure it.

The agony steadily intensified, drenching her clothes in sweat. She curled weakly on the couch, feeling as though time had never passed so agonizingly slow.

She didn't know how long it took, but the searing pain eventually ebbed. A cool breeze slipped through the crack in the balcony's glass door. Sylvia slowly pushed herself up and walked outside.

She doubted Sylvia would dare do anything about it.

What Reina completely underestimated, however, was just how audacious Sylvia truly was.

Early the next morning, the hashtag "Reina Winslet Acts Like A Diva On Set, Uses Stunt Double For Entire Action Sequence" completely detonated across the internet.

Sylvia posted a direct statement on her own social media: "Whispers of the Crown used my stunt footage without authorization. I reserve the right to pursue all legal action and hold the relevant parties accountable."

Because both of their shows were massive hits, Sylvia and Reina were already under an intense public microscope. The moment Sylvia dropped the statement, internet sleuths immediately began dissecting the fight scenes.

They actually managed to dig up numerous continuity errors. In one frame, Reina's character was wearing a beaded bracelet, but in the next high-octane cut, the bracelet had vanished.

The most damning evidence was a sequence requiring a mid-air split transitioning into a high-kick landing. The entire sequence was executed with lethal precision, showing off a pair of stunningly long, slender legs.

But Reina's legs, due to a severe car accident, were actually slightly uneven.

Because it was a historical drama, most characters wore flowing, ethereal gowns. However, in this specific assassination sequence, the character was dressed in sleek, fitted tactical gear, making the physical discrepancy glaringly obvious.
