You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 61

A sudden, freezing chill washed over Sylvia, and her calf cramped violently at the worst possible moment. She bit her lip silently, draining the color from it, swaying on her feet.

Internally, she was a chaotic, suffocating mess.

Yet, she forced herself to stand tall.

"It's always been her, hasn't it?"

Ashton shifted his hand, almost as if he meant to catch her, but quickly shoved it into his pocket, maintaining a restrained distance.

"Yes."

No evasions, no reasons, no excuses.

Just a simple "yes"—that was his absolute stance.

Sylvia's breath hitched sharply. "Then what about our three years together? What did that mean?"

A dull ache lingered from the cramp in her leg, and a suffocating wave of despair washed over her, giving way to fierce indignation.

"Ashton, what did you take me for? Just because I loved you, did that give you the right to trample all over my feelings? What did I do wrong to be treated like this by you?"

As she spoke, her voice gradually grew hoarse.

It wasn't that she didn't know he hated being questioned like this; Sylvia had always been well aware of his limited patience and volatile temper.

But she truly couldn't endure it anymore.

Ever since Ashton had shown blatant favoritism toward Reina, ruthlessly giving away her role to the other woman, she had felt nothing but agony.

She didn't want to keep going with him—not because she had stopped loving him, but because she refused to keep lowering her self-esteem to endlessly accommodate him!

Her eyes were red, and she feigned composure, though her fingertips trembled slightly. "Tell me!"

Ashton merely stared at her in silence.

"...Whatever compensation you still want, just say it all at once."

He glared at Sylvia, his gaze like winter frost, glinting with a razor-sharp, predatory edge. After a long moment, he spoke slowly, dripping with mockery:

"Delusions? Weren't you the one who loved to dream? What, wasn't it you who dreamed of marrying into the Wyatt wealth? Wasn't it you who talked about getting married?"

He spoke in a calm, measured tone, yet his words carried an unspeakable contempt.

Sylvia was suddenly struck by a strong sense of foreboding.

He closed the distance between them step by step. His tall, imposing frame towered over her by more than a head as he backed her against the wall.

"You clearly said you'd never look back after we broke up, yet here you are running back. Is Julian not satisfying you enough? Or did you just not fleece enough money out of me?"

"You talked about loving me, but you still took the thirty million dollars and ran. Why keep up the act? Why play the victim and act like I betrayed you? Over the last three years, have I ever mistreated you when it came to food, clothes, or expenses?"

"You're no different from other women. Actually, no, you're smarter than them. You wrapped yourself up in the guise of love, and you kept that facade going for three solid years."

"Just because I refused to hand you a role and wouldn't cater to your career, you got desperate and bitter. You turned around and hooked up with Julian. What, is he willing to fund you now?"
