You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 51

"Do you really not mind my past relationship with Ashton?"

Sylvia reminded him, afraid he hadn't thought it through.

Not everyone could ignore the fact that the person they liked had such a deep history with someone else.

Giving away their heart and soul entirely.

"I've known since the moment we first met," Julian said calmly.

"So, his existence will only accelerate the progress between us. If it doesn't, it just means we weren't meant to be."

"Just like tonight, if you say yes to me, then his actions are merely a catalyst pushing our relationship further."

His words were incredibly tactful, almost like a seductive lure for Sylvia to agree.

It was the first time Sylvia had heard such a theory. She froze for a moment, thought about it, and still shook her head.

Although her heart had fluttered for a second just now, she still refused.

"I don't want to say yes to you just to forget Ashton."

"That wouldn't be fair to you, and for me, the timing just isn't right."

This was her second time turning Julian down, and to others, she might have seemed ungrateful.

But she wanted to wait until she was completely emotionally untethered from a man like Ashton before diving into a new romance.

"Alright."

Julian didn't push her. He lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

It was a boundary-crossing gesture.

Sylvia didn't pull away.

Perhaps the moonlight was simply too beautiful, leaving them both a little irrational.

Ashton had once told her that every year on his birthday since he was a kid, he celebrated it by the old man's side.

During their first year together, they had missed it. But the following year on Ashton's birthday, he took her back to the main estate to meet Grandfather Wyatt. Sylvia had shared a casual dinner there, and the old man had gifted her a stunning heirloom bracelet. Sylvia had accepted it, locking it safely in her apartment drawer, and she hadn't taken it with her when she moved out.

Sylvia always felt that Grandfather Wyatt treated her with exceptional warmth. He asked about her studies, told her to stay away from the wild club scene, and even said that if Ashton ever mistreated her, she should come straight to him and he would set things right.

For the three years Sylvia had been with Ashton, before she even knew Reina existed, she had rarely suffered any grievances.

Once, a girl from a club relentlessly clung to Ashton and even followed him to the estate. When Grandfather Wyatt found out, he beat Ashton ruthlessly. For half a month, the deep bruises on his back hadn't faded.

Sylvia's heart had ached for him back then. Ashton had just brushed it off, teasing, "If your heart really aches for your man, feed me more so I don't feel like a bag of bones when I hold you." Saying that, he had pressed her down, using his injuries as an excuse to be as demanding as he wanted.

When Sylvia loved him the most, she was addicted to his physical touch, like a biological obsession.

But when they first met, he had saved her twice without taking advantage of her. Later, when he tracked her down at that coffee shop, she had already fallen for him.

In all fairness, they had mostly shared happy moments during their time together.
