You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 38

Vivienne's long-winded speech essentially boiled down to one point: Ashton and Reina were a match made in heaven, and Sylvia was just an unwanted homewrecker who had crawled out of the woodwork.

Naturally, Sylvia had no intention of accepting such an accusation. Taking a deep breath, she fired back, "When Ashton and I got together, we explicitly confirmed that we were both single. I asked him directly. So your claim that I ruined anyone's relationship is entirely baseless. Even if someone's relationship was ruined, I'm the victim here."

"As for your approval, I never wanted it. Ashton and I are done. Whether he wants to rekindle his romance with Reina is entirely his business. I only came here today to visit Elder Wyatt. After today, I'll have nothing more to do with this family. And please do me a favor and tell Ashton to stop harassing me."

Vivienne was momentarily stunned. She had fully expected this girl to put up a hysterical fight, clinging to the Wyatt family with a death grip. She had already mapped out a dozen strategies to break her, never anticipating that Sylvia would stand her ground and actually ask for Ashton to back off.

Deep down, Vivienne didn't buy a single word of it.

"I've seen plenty of girls like you. You say one thing to my face and do another behind my back. You're pregnant, aren't you? You're banking on this baby to secure your spot in the family, right?"

Sylvia's eyelashes fluttered, and her fingers tightened slightly around a paper towel. Half her reaction stemmed from the shock of being seen through, and the other half from the agonizing humiliation of being so ruthlessly degraded.

"I already told you, it's just a stomach bug. Whether you believe me or not is your problem. I don't owe you an explanation."

With that, she walked to the door and tossed the wet towel into the trash can. The harsh hallway lights cast a pale glow over her.

Vivienne followed close behind, an amused, mocking arch to her brow. Having inherited the Wyatt family's striking features, she had been a formidable beauty in her youth, and she knew the cruel realities of romance all too well. "If you're so scared to prove it, it must be true. Judging by how defensive you're acting, you're definitely carrying his child."

A deep sense of humiliation twisted in Sylvia's chest, but it only made her straighten her spine further. She pressed her lips together, refusing to let the older woman break her.

Sylvia stared at her, a frigid smile pulling at her lips, and snatched the five-million-dollar check from her hand.

"You're absolutely right. I only stayed with him for the money. Now that I have my payout, make sure you tell him to stop suffocating me. It's incredibly annoying. Do you have any idea how sick it makes me to pretend to like him every day?"

"Oh, and he actually said he wanted to marry me. It's hilarious. Who on earth would want to marry him?"

Vivienne was completely dumbfounded. The brief sliver of respect she had just felt vanished instantly as Sylvia ripped away her mask, taking the money with an undisguised, sickeningly shallow arrogance.

"You... how can you be so shameless?"
