You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 32

The crowd was furious but didn't dare speak out. Their hands were tied—everyone knew Elder Wyatt favored him above all others.

Ashton adjusted his cuffs, ordered the butler to see the uninvited guests out, and then asked where his grandfather was.

"Elder Wyatt is seeing a guest in his study," the butler replied respectfully. "He instructed that you should bring your guest directly there once you arrived."

Clearly, Ashton had informed them he would be bringing Sylvia back, which explained the specific instructions.

Taking Sylvia's hand, Ashton led her toward the study while asking, "If Grandfather isn't feeling well, why is he taking visitors?"

"It's the grandson of an old friend," the butler explained. "Elder Wyatt was thrilled to see him."

When they reached the double doors of the study, the sound of laughter drifted from inside.

"The last time I saw you, you hadn't even gone abroad yet. In the blink of an eye, you're back with a degree. You've grown into an exceptional young man."

"You flatter me, sir. I still have a lot to learn..." The man's voice was deep, refined, and exceptionally modest.

When Ashton pushed the doors open, all four people froze.

Elder Wyatt sat in the seat of honor in the reception area, while Julian Sterling sat beside him. The two looked as though they were having a deeply pleasant conversation.

Sylvia hadn't expected to see Julian here and was momentarily stunned into silence.

Ashton tightened his grip on Sylvia's hand. After greeting his grandfather, he feigned total ignorance and asked about Julian.

It was incredibly theatrical.

Unaware of the underlying tension, Elder Wyatt introduced Julian as the son of an old family friend. He described him as an outstanding, humble young man from a long line of medical professionals who had just returned from studying abroad to work as a doctor at a top-tier hospital.

"There's no rush," Ashton replied smoothly. "She's still young, and her career is booming. I'm young too. We aren't in a hurry to get married and have kids."

Hearing this, Sylvia threw a sharp look at Ashton. She had no idea how he could say her career was 'booming' with a straight face. Wasn't her career currently in ruins thanks to him?

Elder Wyatt immediately scolded him. "No rush? You clearly don't know your priorities. Marriage is a major life event. It's better to get it settled early."

The sudden burst of emotion took a toll on the old man, and he suddenly felt unwell. Everyone quickly called for his doctor. The butler helped Elder Wyatt back to his room to rest, but not before the old man instructed Ashton to entertain Julian properly.

Once Elder Wyatt was gone, the three of them stood face-to-face in a suffocating silence.

Sylvia lowered her gaze, feeling deeply awkward. After all, she had explicitly told Julian she and Ashton were broken up, and she had no idea how to explain the current situation.

It was Ashton who broke the silence, his handsome face carrying the chill of a frozen glacier. "Why is everyone so quiet? What's wrong? Have you two forgotten each other?"
