Ashton shot him a fleeting, apathetic glance, entirely unmoved.
His strikingly handsome face was utterly devoid of emotion, stoically allowing Sylvia to bite his hand until it bled without loosening his grip.
"Whatever he can give you, I can give you too. I told you, I can give you anything you want. What's so great about him that you insist on staying by his side?"
His voice was laced with unconcealed jealousy. Seeing her defend another man like that ignited an inferno he couldn't suppress.
Harrison closed the distance in a few sharp strides. Seeing his son refusing to release the struggling woman, his blood boiled. He delivered a resounding slap across Ashton's face. "You absolute disgrace!"
The blow was brutal. Ashton's head snapped to the side, a stark red print blooming on his left cheek as a thin trail of blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.
He raised a hand to wipe it away, glaring at Harrison with a somber, brooding intensity. "Hah, just had to show off your authority, didn't you?"
Ignoring the sarcastic remark, Harrison immediately summoned the security guards. "Restrain him and take him home. I refuse to believe I can't discipline my own son!"
Ashton tried to fight them off, but the security team consisted of highly trained professionals. Having just witnessed Ashton's ferocity, they dared not hold back. It took the combined strength of several large men to pin him down, and even then, he nearly broke free.
The harder Ashton resisted, the more ruthless they became. They twisted his arms violently behind his back until his shoulder popped out of its socket.
Harrison's brow furrowed slightly. "You've crossed every line today. You acted like an impulsive child. Go home and think about what you've done. If you can't fix your attitude, I'll ship you off to a remote military base."
Ashton spat out a mouthful of blood and let out a cold laugh. "Kicking me to the curb the second I get in your way. How typical."
The onlookers exchanged knowing glances. The tension between this father and son went far deeper than ordinary family drama.
They didn't look like family at all; they looked like bitter enemies.
But no one dared to voice their thoughts.
Despite the pain, Julian still managed to joke, "It's fine. As long as the bride doesn't mind."
Sylvia gave a watery smile, her eyes still red and swollen. She wasn't faring much better emotionally.
The brawl had genuinely terrified her. She was pregnant, so she hadn't dared to intervene, but seeing Ashton fight like a deranged maniac had left her trembling.
And when Ashton was dragged away, his hand bleeding from her bite, his arm dislocated—he hadn't so much as winced.
As he was forced out, his tall, broad-shouldered silhouette had looked overwhelmingly lonely, sending an involuntary tremor through Sylvia's heart. But she quickly steeled herself. It was his own father who took him away. What could he possibly do to him?
Though, deep down, Sylvia knew Ashton's relationship with his father was fractured.
They only spoke once or twice during the holidays. Normally, Ashton would take Sylvia back to the main estate to dine with his grandfather, but whenever Harrison was in town for the new year, Ashton always went alone.
