Chapter 154
On a fine afternoon, Felicity stepped out from a cafe holding a steaming cup of coffee and a chocolate doughnut. As the walked, she took a bite from her treat with a big smile of satisfaction on her face.
It was damn good
It was her lunch break so she decided to take a small stroll to the café close to the company. She needed the fresh air after being cooped in her office all day..
Walking back to the company now, there was a small bounce to her step as she weaved through the busy street. There was a mask over her face to prevent people from recognizing her. Today, she wanted to blend in with everyone else without someone screaming her name or demanding an antographi
Just peace and quietness.
Just as she raised her coffee to her lips for a sip, someone shoved her to the side, causing her to lose grip of her cup. She watched helplessly, as the golden liquid of goodness and sweetness splattered on the grey sidewalk, forming a coffee-shaped.

Sorrow washed over her features at the loss of her drink which she wasn’t fortunate to have a sip of, before anger surfaced. Clenching her fist, she turned to the person who bumped into her to give him a piece of her mind.
“Don’t you have eyes or have you forgotten how to use them?” She swerved around in rage but paused when she saw who it was. “It’s you. What are you doing here?”
Axel paused, gazing at her before realisation flashed through his face. “Good afternoon to you too, Felicity,” He answered with a smirk.
Felicity’s gaze trailed his body. He was wearing a black leather jacket over a white shirt paired with some jeans and sneakers. His skin had gotten tanner since the last time she saw him at the awards but his eyes still held that wicked charm.
What had he been up to in the last month?
“You ruined the afternoon for me. You spilled my drink,” Felicity pointed at her pouring coffee on the floor.
Alex glanced at it before shrugging. “If it was that important, you should have held it tighter.”
“You ****g—”
“No, no, no. That’s no way to speak with your brother-in-law. You should learn to say nice things when you see me.”-Axel cut her ranting off with an annoying grin.
“Go to hell” Felicity swore at him, stomping her feet on the floor in anger. Why did she have to meet him today of all days? “What the hell are you doing here anyway?”
Rolling his eyes, Axel answered, “It’s a sidewalk. I’m allowed to walk on it.”
“Why so close to my company? Are you spying on me?” Arching her brow, Felicity crossed her arms as she waited for an
Axel Scotled “Don’t flatter yourself. I was just passing by after finishing some business, he explained, looking at their surroundings cautiously. The light in his eyes dimmed a little. “If you are so upset about the coffee, I’ll buy you another one. You should get going
Noticing the slight shift in his demeanour, Felicity asked, “Is something wrong?”
“Why would anything be wrong” Axel countered with a smile but she didn’t buy it.

Chapter 154
“Because you’re acting weird”
“What’s weird with how I’m acting?”
“Stop answering my questions with another question.”
“Your questions are kind of ridiculous”
“You are insufferable.” Felicity retorted.

Axel nodded. “You too,” he answered before giving her a slight push. “Come on, go. It’s not safe for you to be in the street alone.”
Felicity didn’t budge. “I’m not alone, there are people around. And I’m pretty sure Noah has someone watching me in the shadows or something I’ll be fine. But I can’t say the same about you though.”
“What do you mean?”
Felicity sighed “You said it yourself, you’re an Elsworth therefore someone important. You can’t just waltz into a place with random people without protection and not expect to get shot. She quoted what Axel had told her at the park.
He had blamed her and hurt her that day. It felt nice to throw his words back in his face. Felicity was satisfied when she saw Axel wince at her words.
“You’re still angry about that. I thought you forgave me already
Raising her hands in surrender, she replied. “I’m just telling you what you told me.”
“Well, I can take care of myself. I’ve done it for the past twenty-seven years. You should worry about yourself, Axel said with a clipped tone..
Felicity huffed in annoyance. “Sheesh, I’m going, I’m going” She mumbled, backing away from him. “You owe me a coffee though.”
“Sure,” Axel affirmed before turning his back to her and started walking away. There weren’t many people on the sidewalk so Felicity was able to stand and watch him leave.
Releasing a breath, she discarded her remaining doughnut in a nearby trash can, losing her appetite. She was about to leave too when she noticed a black van speeding on the road and driving past cars recklessly.
“What in the…” Felicity trailed off when she noticed a head, shoot from one of the windows of the car. The person was dressed in all black with a hood over their face.
Felicity would have turned and ignored him if she hadn’t seen the shining black object in his hand. A gun and he was pointing it at someone.
Felicity’s head darted in the direction they were aiming at and saw an oblivious Axel walking hurriedly down the sidewalk some distance away and her heart dropped.
Her eyes widened as inexplicable fear coursed through her.
Before she could stop herself, she was already racing towards him, pushing passersby out of her way. Her main focus was Axel and getting to him before it was too late..
Ignoring her pounding heart, she yelled, “Axel! Watch out!”
A startled Axel turned to her looking balled and worried. She tried to wave at him to move out of the way but he didn’t seem to understand.
