Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 298

Chapter 298

Ashley had almost given up when Boris entered her cell. She was lying face up on the cold floor, too weak to sit, too tired to even be

properly afraid at first. Her mouth was dry. Her body felt hollow. Every part of her ached in a dull, miserable way that made

thinking feel difficult. The cell had stopped feeling like a place and had started feeling like the end of everything.

When she saw Boris, tears began to slide from the corners of her eyes. She did not have the strength to wipe them away. She thought he had come to finish her off. That was the only thing that made sense. No one had come with food. No one had come with water. No one had come to ask her name or why she had begged to see Sebastien. So why else would he come now except to end the

problem he had created?

Was this how she and Claire would go? Without even a chance to prove themselves? Without reaching Sebastien, without learning anything, without making Joseph proud or helping anyone? Ashley and Claire had known the mission was dangerous. They had known it might be suicidal. But Ashley had believed they would at least get somewhere first. She had thought there would be a conversation, a performance, a lie she could spin, something. Instead, she had been swallowed by a cell before the plan even

breathed.

Boris came closer and lifted her in his arms bridal style. Ashley did not fight because she could not. Her body was too weak, and Claire felt too far away. The silver had pushed her wolf into silence, and Ashley hated the empty space where that presence should have been. She let her head rest against Boris’s arm because holding it up took too much strength. She prayed Claire would remain silent and that if death came, it would be quick and painless.

But Boris did not take her deeper into the dungeon. He carried her out.

Ashley’s mind struggled to understand it. She blinked against the brighter light as they left the cells, her body limp in his arms. The air changed. The smell changed. Stone and damp gave way to cleaner corridors, polished floors, and the soft scents of a pack house that had no business feeling so normal when she had been left below like a forgotten animal.

Boris took her to a luxurious room and placed her on the bed. The mattress dipped beneath her, soft enough to make pain rush through her tired body in a new way. She stared at the ceiling, confused and too weak to ask anything. Boris left without saying a word, and Ashley remained there, shocked by what had happened. One moment she had been waiting to die in the dungeon. The next, she was lying on a bed in a room too beautiful for someone who had been treated like filth.

A few women came in soon after, and an elderly woman came with them. Ashley did not know her name then, but there was something gentle in her face that made Ashley’s throat tighten. The woman carried water with a straw, and when she came close, Ashley wanted to grab the cup and drink like a starving thing, but she did not have the strength. The elderly woman helped her sit up carefully, supporting her back as if Ashley was not a stranger, as if she mattered.

Odette placed the straw to her lips.

Ashley sipped gently. The water touched her tongue, and she almost cried again. It was not enough at once, but it was everything. Every swallow hurt a little, but it also brought her back to herself. Odette patted her hair gently, and the touch was so motherly that Ashley could barely hold herself together. It had been too long since anyone had touched her like that without wanting something

from her.

Chapter 298

“They are drawing you a bath as we speak. Do not worry, Alpha will see you soon, and you can tell him what you want,” Odette said.

Ashley could only nod weakly. She was drained completely. She had never gone a day without food in her life, and now she had gone

three days without food or water. It had changed something in her. It had humbled her in an ugly way. She had thought she knew

fear before, but the cell had shown her a different kind. The kind that crawled into the body and made pride useless.
