Chapter 276
Meadow never knew her life would be this complete. She never knew she would find love. She never knew anyone would want to
claim her, not out of duty, not out of pity, not because someone had arranged it, but because he loved her and his wolf recognised
her. The moon had shone on her. She did not only find love; Ethan was also her fated. Her mate. Her home. This was an excellent
reward for the pain and fear she had endured all her life.
“Meadow, come to bed,” Ethan linked her.
But it sounded more like Echo.
She felt it immediately, and she smiled. The link carried Ethan, but there was a deeper roughness beneath it, something warm and
powerful that made her skin tingle. Her tingle was stronger than before, and she embraced the feeling. She could also feel the
strength of the wolf that had claimed her. Echo was indeed powerful. Even with Ethan still recovering, the wolf’s presence was not
small. It wrapped around her like a shield.
“Our road to freedom,” Nightshade said.
Meadow did not understand what her wolf meant by that. Sometimes Meadow believed Nightshade lived in a different reality from
her, which could be possible with what Camila had said. Nightshade saw things differently. Felt things ahead of time. Spoke in
strange pieces that only made sense later. Meadow wanted to ask what she meant, but the bathroom was not the place for that, and
her emotions were already too full.
She gathered herself and wiped away her tears of joy, then returned to the room and joined Ethan in bed. He was already sitting up, waiting for her. She sat beside him, and he drew her into his arms like he had been waiting too long even though she had only been
gone for minutes.
He breathed her in and kissed her neck.
“Amid all the chaos, Meadow, you have given me peace,” Ethan said.
She looked at him. His eyes were misty, and she knew he was fighting away his emotions. Ethan did that often. He felt too deeply
but tried to control how much showed. It made her heart ache for him. This man had been broken, betrayed, mocked, poisoned by
silver, and forced to watch his pack slip from his hands, yet he still held her like she was the one steady thing in his world.
She looked at her mark on his neck and caressed it gently. Then she kissed it. That was her way of expressing herself. Her way of
saying he belonged to her too. Her way of telling him she loved him when words still could not leave her mouth.
“I will try to see how I can get us out of here, my love,” Ethan said, holding her tight.
His voice carried the weight of the promise. Not only for them. For everyone trapped under Cynthia’s borrowed power.
“Honestly, if it wasn’t because I couldn’t let a stranger take over my family’s legacy, we would go far away from here and start a family. Just you and me. But we have to think of the pack members, my mother, stepfather, and everyone that is held in the cells,”
Ethan said.

Chapter 276
Meadow caressed his cheek with her palm. She understood him. She knew he meant it. Somewhere inside him, a tired part of Ethan wanted to run with her. To leave the politics, the poison, the family legacy, the dead father’s shadow, the unknown Alpha, and Cynthia’s madness behind. But Ethan was not that kind of man. He could dream of escape, but he would never abandon people who depended on him.
“Neither of us runs away from trouble. I can’t wait for you to give the go-ahead to mess that bitch up. I can’t wait, Ethan,” Meadow linked him.
Ethan grinned at her because he knew she meant every word. His sweet, quiet Luna had fire under her skin, and he loved it. He loved that Cynthia had no idea what Meadow truly was. He loved that one day, when the time was right, the woman who had called his wife harmless would learn how wrong she had been.
“In due time, my Luna. In due time,” Ethan said.
He held her close.
Ethan and Joseph decided to go out in the evening, leaving Meadow and Victoria in the house. The brothers needed to move quietly
and Meadow understood. They could not afford to remain locked inside forever. Every trip out carried risk, but every plan needed
action too. While they were gone, Meadow joined Victoria in her room.
Meadow wore an off-shoulder blouse and held her hair in a ponytail to flaunt the mark on her neck. She told herself she was not
being childish, but she knew she was a little. She wanted Victoria to see it. She wanted someone who loved her to react with joy.
She wanted one moment where the mark was not about danger, politics, or Cynthia’s jealousy, but about happiness.
The moment Victoria saw it, she squealed.
“It’s about time,” Victoria said.
Meadow blushed.
