Chapter 196
“Camila, please excuse us,” Keith told the therapist.
Camila looked at him briefly, and whatever she saw on his face made her ask no questions. She nodded and excused herself from the room. When she was gone, the atmosphere changed. Ethan saw it. Meadow saw it too. The lightness from the healing news thinned until only tension remained. Keith looked at Meadow, then at Ethan. He wished Ethan had more time. He wished he could let him enjoy the good news for at least one hour before dropping more ruin on him. But there was no time in war. There was never enough
mercy for proper timing.
“I need you to remain calm about what I am about to tell you,” Keith told Ethan.
Ethan’s expression hardened at once. He knew it would not be good. A man did not ask an Alpha to remain calm before delivering comfort. Meadow moved closer without making a sound, her face tightening as she watched Keith.
“Joseph confronted Dr Rosenberg about what they did,” Keith said.
For a brief moment, Ethan looked almost glad. It was the grim satisfaction of a man who thought one of the people responsible for
his suffering had finally been cornered.
“Dr Rosenberg said he was not the one that attended to you. He claims he was on leave around the time of the operation and only came to sign your release documents,” Keith said.
Ethan frowned. His brows pulled together, not in simple confusion but in anger fighting disbelief. He had lived with one truth for seven years. His body had carried it. His rage had shaped itself around it. Now that truth was being pulled apart in front of him.
“He said the people that attended to you were Dr Mark and James. The same James that took out the shards. Mark is dead, and James left before Joseph called to tell me,” Keith said.
Ethan shook his head at once.
“He is lying. There is no way James would do this and fix it. They should ask my mother who attended to me. She was there,” Ethan
said.
That was where it became difficult. Keith’s mouth tightened. There was no way to explain why Amber could not answer cleanly without telling him about the attack. No way to speak of his mother’s condition without opening the door to everything else. Ethan
saw the hesitation. He was too sharp, even wounded, to miss it.
Keith sighed.
Ethan’s eyes sharpened on him. He knew then. Maybe not the details, but he knew something terrible had happened. Keith saw it settle in his face before a single word was spoken. That was the burden of friendship too. Sometimes knowing someone well meant
you could feel the blow before it landed.
Keith told him everything Joseph had said. He did not soften it. There was no way to make it gentle and still true. He told him about

Chapter 196
Sebastien Kaminski. About River pack. About Cynthia Davids. About renegade warriors. About the attack on Whitewood. About/Luna Amber, Beta Levi, and Ashley being injured. About Joseph being forced to surrender so they could receive medical care. About the document. About Joseph signing his father’s name instead of Ethan’s. About the fragile time they had before the lie might be
verified.
By the time he finished, Ethan’s face had changed completely. He growled. The sound came from deep in him, rough and low, and for one frightening second, Keith heard not just the wounded man on the bed but the Alpha Whitewood had been missing for seven years. Weak legs. Healing spine. Fresh stitches. None of that mattered to the rage that rolled out of him.
“That bitch!!! I knew she was up to no good when she appeared out of the blue. All that lie about breaking up with a man she has
been with for seven years,” Ethan said.
His anger hit the room like heat. Meadow flinched slightly, not from fear of him, but from the force of it. Keith did not blame Ethan. Cynthia’s betrayal was ugly enough on its own, but to make herself part of an attack while Ethan was recovering, while his family was exposed, while Whitewood was vulnerable, turned that ugliness into something unforgivable.
