Underwater: The Silent Luna novel Chapter 129

Chapter 129

Slowly, her fingers moved.

96

Not all at once. Not in any dramatic snap. Gradually. Closer. Drawn toward each other with tiny involuntary adjustments. Ethan could not

tell if it unsettled him or fascinated him more.

“When they touch, just let your eyes close, let your arms come down, and when they touch your lap, you can go into a deeper stage of

hypnosis.”

Again Meadow obeyed.

The fingers met.

Her eyes closed.

Her hands dropped gently, and her arms lowered until they rested. Meadow breathed a couple of deeper breaths after that, and the

tension in her body seemed to melt downward. Camila watched closely

continued.

“Allow yourself to sink into a deep state of hypnosis.”

Meadow went under faster than Camila expected.

That fact alone told Camila something was wrong. Very wrong. She recognised the signs. The unusual quickness. The strange way

Meadow’s subconscious seemed to both resist and receive at the same time.

Then Camila made the first real turn.

“I want you to let go and give me Nightshade.”

Meadow’s breathing changed immediately,

It sped up. Sharpened. Became strained.

Camila noticed at once and kept herself calm even though inwardly the reaction confirmed her suspicion that something deeper was

already at work in Meadow’s mind,

“Relax, there is just you and all the time you need.”

Meadow’s breathing gradually eased again, though not fully. There was resistance there, Something in her subconscious was clutching at

control. Camila had seen forms of that before, but not usually this layered. It also suggested something else clearly enough for her trained

instincts to catch it.

Chapter 129

Meadow was already living under some form of hypnosis.

Camila did not say that aloud.

Not yet.

She needed more evidence. More depth. She needed to know how far this went before she named it.

“Meadow, envision your fear as a door, and I want you to see it in your mind.”

By then Meadow was sweating.

Too much for the room. Too much for the simple exercise they

were in. Her body looked like it was fighting fever. Camila’s stomach

tightened. The hypnosis Meadow was under was pushing back against the new state Camila was trying to create, almost as if her mind

→ had been conditioned to reject any competing command structure.

Ethan noticed the change too.

Echo stirred inside him at the same moment, and Ethan had to fight not to welcome that stir completely. He felt the pull. The same old

instinct that told him to lean into it, to let his wolf rise if he could. But this was not about him right now. He forced himself to hold back,

to keep still, to stay focused on Meadow.

“Do you see the door, Meadow?”

Camila’s voice remained level.

Meadow gave no verbal answer. Only breath. Sweat. Tremor.

“I want you to open it and link me to Nightshade.”

Meadow’s hands began to shake.

That was when Ethan shifted forward in discomfort. His whole body had gone rigid watching her. Watching the strain in her. Watching whatever this was fight inside her like an invisible war. Camila noticed his tension and linked him immediately so he would not break the

session.

“Please, Alpha, trust me on this.”

Ethan forced himself to relax back again, Barely,

Then Meadow spoke.

“No.”

Chapter 129

The word hit the room like a slap.

Ethan’s whole body went cold.

His eyes widened so hard it hurt. He could not believe what he just heard. He had heard his wife sign. He had heard her breathe, whimper silently, make soundless reactions, but never this. Never a spoken refusal. Never a real word. Never her voice.
