Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1291

"Principal Darrow," Mira said calmly, "I guarantee I will take first place in these midterms. I intend to sit for the college entrance exams this year, and I can promise you that I'll secure the title of National Academic Laureate for Melvion Central High School.

Furthermore, I'm prepared to provide the school with The Mercer Educational Endowment.

But all of this comes with a condition."

Melvion Central High School possessed an elite faculty, but at its core, it was a private institution that thrived on prestige and public image. Producing the top-scoring student in the nation was the ultimate marketing tool. There was no way Principal Maxwell Darrow wouldn't be tempted.

As for the financial backing, Melvion Central had nurtured her academic growth in her previous lives. Earning money was child's play for Mira, and giving back to her alma mater was simply the right thing to do.

Principal Darrow looked at Mira with a heavy dose of skepticism. "The entrance exams are a little over a month away, and you're only a sophomore. Can you really deliver on these promises?"

He knew Mira was the recently recovered heiress of the Mercer family. Her academic file showed stellar past performance, but skipping a grade to claim the national title was a massive leap.

"To be entirely honest, sir, I possess an eidetic memory. I speed-read and retain everything I see. By my freshman year, I had already self-taught the entire high school curriculum. You can verify my academic records. From elementary to high school, I have never placed anything other than first."

Principal Darrow nodded slowly. "And what exactly do you need from me?"

"I want Evelyn Crowe removed from the education system entirely. And to be clear, I mean permanently expelled from the profession, not quietly reassigned to another school or some rural district."

"The evidence you've provided is damning, but it won't be enough to secure a permanent ban."

Principal Darrow sighed.

Evelyn had deep-rooted connections within the School Board.

Mira's gaze remained utterly unshaken. "I'm aware. But given Evelyn's total lack of integrity, the unethical and corrupt acts she's committed over the years must be staggering. As the principal, digging up additional evidence shouldn't be too difficult."

Principal Darrow mulled it over. "Gathering evidence takes time. Why are you in such a rush to see her ousted?"
