Truth be told, Mara felt immensely wronged. In her mind, she hadn't plagiarized anything, completely unaware that in this timeline, someone else had already beaten her to the copyright office.
"What's the name of the person who registered the copyright?"
Ethan asked suddenly, having sat quietly on the sidelines up until now.
Damon thought for a moment. "Someone from Aethelgard, I think. They used the stage name Echo. We haven't managed to dig up their real identity yet."
Ethan and Mira exchanged a meaningful look.
In her past life, Mira had used the pen name Lune. This mysterious person hadn't just stolen Mira's future songs; they had blatantly mimicked her moniker.
After dinner, Mira slipped into Ethan's room.
"Ethan, based on what Damon said, someone in Aethelgard preemptively released my past work. Do you think this time-traveler is a stranger, or someone we know?"
Ethan slid a bowl of fresh cherries toward her. "It's impossible to tell from that one detail. Anyone could be a time-traveler."
Ethan turned to his laptop, his fingers flying across the keys. "I just ran a background search. There's zero personal data attached to that name. They're intentionally covering their tracks.
But if they really are a time-traveler, they'll inevitably expose more than just a couple of songs. We wait and observe."
"Who's the singer performing those tracks? What label are they signed to?"
Mira asked.
"Millennium Media, and the artist is Kellan Thorne."
Ethan replied.
"Millennium Media? I never heard of them in our past life."
"They're a brand-new startup."
"Whatever," Mira sighed softly. "I have no intention of stepping into the entertainment industry in this lifetime anyway. The only reason we're digging into this is to uncover who this traveler really is.
If you want to expand Mercer Vision Entertainment, I can write out every hit I published in my past life and hand them over to you. But doing so would instantly blow our cover as time-travelers."
"There's no need. I have no interest in wasting energy on the Mercer Group's entertainment division."
