Mira merely shrugged. "If you say so, Sebastian."
She could no longer even stomach the thought of calling him her uncle.
Miles stared at his father and sister in pure exasperation. "Dad, Seraphina is completely irrational. Are you going to be entirely blind to the truth too?"
"Get the hell out of here, and stop calling me Dad!
From now on, I have no son, and you have no father."
Though Sebastian directed his vitriol at Miles, it was a deliberate slap in Eleanor's face. The authority Miles now held had been forcibly stripped from Sebastian by the matriarch herself and handed to her grandson.
Therefore, Sebastian's resentment toward Miles was ultimately a thinly veiled revolt against his mother.
Seeing his father consumed by childish anger, Miles simply stopped engaging.
Miles's situation was fundamentally different from Mira's. When Mira severed ties with the Quinn family, it was because they had pushed her past the point of no return. If she hadn't left, she would have been killed, just like in her past life.
But Miles had grown up as the golden child, bearing the heavy expectations of Sebastian and Gwen Quinn. While his parents were deeply flawed individuals, their love for him had never been in question.
Now, they were simply standing on opposing sides of a corporate war. Sending Gwen away temporarily had been a necessary evil to save the company.
As Mira prepared to leave, she turned to the matriarch. "Eleanor, if things get too toxic here, call me anytime. I'll come pick you up."
With that, Mira turned and walked out.
On the drive back, Jax Weaver kept his eyes on the road. "I don't think Eleanor will last long in that house. With attitudes like that, they're going to make her life a living hell."
Mira sighed softly. "She didn't move back to enjoy her twilight years. She went back to help Miles get those people under control.
Eleanor was a force of nature in her prime.
Even if it goes sideways, she has to try. Otherwise, she'll never find peace."
Richard gave her a bewildered look. "A specialist? For what?"
"For an aggressive acupuncture treatment, of course. If we have a doctor stimulate his nerve points, maybe we can force him into a moment of lucidity."
They desperately needed the Lance patriarch awake. The old man had always prioritized family bloodlines above all else. He would burn through the entire family fortune to save his grandson.
If the old man regained his senses, he would order Owen to bail Lawrence out. And Owen wouldn't dare defy the patriarch's direct command.
After all, the old man still technically held the strings to the Lance family's immense wealth. The full inheritance transition couldn't happen until he actually passed away.
If they could just wake him up, she and Richard wouldn't have to lift another finger. The situation would instantly reverse.
Moreover, the patriarch had legendary connections; he could probably pull enough strings to get Lawrence acquitted entirely.
Wasn't it the old man who covered up Grace Valerius's death years ago? And when that plane incident happened, he was the one who smoothed it over.
